The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description

The GC&E Global Financial Crimes (GFC) team is seeking a highly qualified attorney to lead a team of in-house lawyers responsible for managing all legal and regulatory matters impacting the company's global Economic and Trade Sanctions (sanctions), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Corruption programs. This position will also be responsible for managing key strategic global financial crimes initiatives. The legal manager will provide legal advice and carry out actions which have an impact upon the rights, privileges and responsibilities of the Company while maintaining high standards of legal and business ethics and professional responsibility.

 

Responsibilities

 

Provide strategic guidance and oversight to the in-house GFC legal team focused on mitigating financial crime riskCoordinate and drive global financial crimes strategic initiativesOverseeing legal guidance for day-to-day transaction requests to ensure compliance and risk mitigationMaintain and update global policies and procedures related to financial crimeConduct training for business partners to enhance awareness and complianceMonitor and advise senior management on global regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictionsProvide counsel on regulatory inquiries, audits and investigations from various regulatory/government agenciesCollaborate with the M&A team on pre-acquisition/divestiture due diligence and post-acquisition due diligence, as well as integration processesDeliver strategic and thoughtful leadership to drive team performance and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration Qualifications Completion of law school with a J.D. or L.L.B. degree and admission to the bar of at least one jurisdiction in the United States requiredAt least twelve years’ experience as a practicing attorney with significant experience in sanctions, AML, and anti-corruption laws and regulationsProven track record of leading high-performing teamsRequirements include excellent oral and written communication skills, client focus, managing multiple priorities, attention to detail and demonstrated ability to conduct research and analysis of legal issuesIdeal candidate will have significant experience in OFAC and other sanctions regimes (e.g. EU and UK), the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and UK Bribery Act, and anti-money laundering laws and regulatory requirements.Experience working in insurance industry and/or financial crimes regulatory agencies preferred.
