At BMS, field medical plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare professionals are educated on the appropriate use of our medicines and have the information they need to improve outcomes for their patients. The Field Medical Excellence organization optimizes field medical activities globally by setting strategic direction and creating aligned processes, systems, and tools. The Global Head, Field Medical Excellence is responsible for setting the long-term vision and strategic direction for field medical activities globally, with US being highest priority market, establishing Field Medical Excellence as a strategic partner to BMS Field Medical/Medical, and driving a seamless customer experience to reach more patients. Key Responsibilities + Reports to the Vice President (VP), Medical Excellence and serves as a senior member of the Medical Excellence Leadership Team + Defines the **strategy to** reach more patients and **improve patient outcomes** through field medical activities and optimize field medical as a key driver of scientific awareness **focused on HCPs unmet educational needs** + Gains a deep understanding of the FM needs for key internal stakeholders (WW & Market Medical TAs, WW Medical Leads, Medical Leadership, FM Leadership) and customers (TLs, HCPs) + Partners with senior stakeholders (e.g., US BU Heads/SVPs, International Medical Leadership Heads/SVP/VP) **to define and drive strategy towards the long-term vision for field medical activities** (e.g., MSLs, Medical Engagement Leads) with appropriate local/market tailoring as needed + Distills internal stakeholder and customer needs, as well as the evolving industry trends, to define what best in class Field Medical looks like, aligned to TA and overall business strategy (e.g. Medical Leadership Team priorities) + Develops a plan for the pull-through of the FM vision and strategy by the FME Leadership Team and oversees its execution + Develops valuable FM metrics and partners with stakeholders to utilize learnings to evolve FM strategies + Leads the Field Medical Excellence (FME) capability globally and sets the overall direction through development of the long-term FME vision and strategy + Serves as single point of accountability to drive the implementation of, and is a champion for, high-impact initiatives (e.g., insights, CRM) that improve the productivity / operations of the FME and / or the FM team and optimize the customer experience + Defines, leads and develops a high performing FME team: + Drives a high-performance culture by fostering innovation, collaboration, customer focus, accountability, and commitment to increase the impact of FME + Establishes the metrics to track the impact of FME + Reviews performance, and oversees the development of a plan to address any deviation from the expected performance + Communicates the impact to internal stakeholders to demonstrate the value of FME as a strategic partner within BMS and evolves strategies to improve impact as needed + Develops and owns the FME budget, ensuring optimal allocation and prioritization of high priority / impact initiatives Qualifications & Experience + Graduate medical or scientific degree (MD, PhD, Pharm. D) or other degree with additional years of experience; 10+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience + Proven experience in establishing long-term strategic direction and ability to lead teams and influence senior executives to drive optimal business results + Demonstration of senior leadership track record with prior Medical Affairs and/or field leadership experience across multi-functional and multi-cultural teams (medical, marketing, legal, etc.) within a complex matrix environment + Exemplary ability to lead without authority across a complicated matrix environment with multiple competing priorities + Demonstrated ability to define what a best in class FME organization looks like and to lead a team and/or collaborate with other stakeholders to achieve that + Customer-focused, strong visionary with the ability to innovate and to identify high-impact initiatives (quality vs quantity of initiatives) + Strong communication skills (fluency in English), strong presentation skills to effectively communicate ideas to accomplish challenging objectives, and able to influence others including senior management + Proven project management skills, experienced with the Microsoft Office suite (including MS Teams, SharePoint), and experienced with business/process redesign and change management + International experience and ability & willingness to travel nationally/internationally (~20% based on requirements) \#LI-HYBRID If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn't perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway.
