Global Head of CUO Analytics

The Global Head of Chief Underwriting Office Analytics is a senior position, responsible for leading broad team that uses data analytics to inform and optimize underwriting decision making in the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO) and to enable the AIG global businesses with state of the art reporting capabilities, advancing the CUO data and digital strategies to identify, manage, and report on risks more effectively as well as supporting profitable and sustainable underwriting growth. This role will report directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Construct or enhance underwriting analytical tools for technical pricing needs involving all lines of business across AIGCreate risk measurement tools for underwriters that provide account insights to enable construction and achievement of desired underwriting portfolios annuallyDrive the CUO data and digital strategies, building state of the art underwriting decision-making tools, including the incorporation of the use of GenAI and LMMsEstablish underwriting KPIs, risk tolerances and underwriting appetitesConduct underwriting risk modeling for all lines of business for both natural and man-made catastrophe exposuresWork with the CUO Analytics team to roll-up and report to the businesses man-made and natural CAT modelling results, aggregate availability and PML usageDevelop advanced models for Flood/Cyber/Terror/Casualty/other emerging areasLead underwriting research and development for model creation, validation and calibration to develop AIG view of riskPresent data-driven insights to the CUO and other stakeholders, explaining the implications for underwriting policies and risk selectionDesign and implement scenario generation including extreme event scenarios (RDS) for underwriting risk needsSelect, evaluate and integrate new and relevant data sources into underwriting analyticsLead high-performing Underwriting Analytics teamsIn coordination with ERM, assess and develop underwriting mitigation strategies to address risk aggregation and systemic/emerging riskProvide oversight and governance of new products and solutionsCollaborate across all internal stakeholders including Actuarial, ERM, Portfolio Optimization, IT and Data Teams to harmonize activities and deliverablesCore Skills and Behaviors:

University degree: MBA or similar graduate level degree preferred, with 10+ years of experience, with a professional background in underwriting, modelling, risk analyticsThe ability to rapidly master the competitive, economic, and management challenges of the insurance industry, and AIG’s needs, opportunities, and position within that, is criticalProven expertise in helping senior business leaders frame, analyze, size, and solve complex business problem, including an understand of management frameworks and approaches needed to facilitate this workAdvanced level of comfort independently working with senior executives and crafting communicationsStrong communication skills with experience in interacting effectively with executive management and the Board(s) of DirectorsLeadership and management competencies, with the ability to influence both direct reports and cross function, indirect reporting relationshipsFor positions based in New York, the base salary range is $325,000-$375,000. In addition, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
