The Global Lead Environmental Sustainability Programs, within the Global Capital Investment & Real Estate organization, shapes and drives environmental sustainability programs for the Diagnostics sites and affiliates. This role will have particular focus on resource efficiency/circularity/waste, water, biodiversity and F-gases. You will lead, coordinate and promote the implementation of measures to reduce the environmental impact of our sites from a life cycle perspective. You will further lead the integration of environmental sustainability into engineering projects in order to minimize impacts over the infrastructure’s lifetime. In order to be successful, you will collaborate with experts of various technical subject matter disciplines.
You will lead or participate in global cross-functional working groups and coach colleagues to develop expertise and skills in environmental engineering and environmental management. You are a well-organized and self-motivated environmental management expert with excellent communication skills and proven success in influencing without authority. Your ability to balance the provision of detailed technical support at the site level with global responsibilities will be particularly important in this role.
You have the gift of presenting and analyzing complex issues in a simple manner. You maintain awareness of new subject matter methodologies, frameworks, technologies and key players on the market and know how to bring trends and innovations into the organization.
Your activities will include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Actively contribute to the Diagnostics division’s environmental sustainability strategy with particular focus on sustainable sites planning, engineering, and site operations
Identify and quantify potentials to improve the sustainability performance of Dia sites’ resource use with a life cycle perspective
Take ownership of environmental sustainability topics for the division, including waste, water, biodiversity, F-gases
Lead and contribute to global best practice networks
Provide subject matter expertise to Diagnostics sites and functions within the Global Capital Investment and Real Estate organization
Lead or participate in cross-divisional and cross-functional forums and working groups
Partner closely with a broad spectrum of internal customers, including but not limited to Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Procurement, Safety Security Health & Environment (SHE), Product Stewardship, and Real Estate & Facility Management
Support environmental reporting and performance monitoring activities

Strong ability to network and to build trustful and effective relationships
A team player mentality is essential. Collaborative, open-minded and solution-oriented mindset
Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in environmental engineering, environmental management, or related fields of education, and at least 8 years’ professional experience in environmental management or environmental engineering preferably in a regulated and high technology environment
Project management skills and familiarity with sustainability-related tools, methodologies, and frameworks (e.g. ISO 14001)
Comprehensive knowledge of resource circularity, and waste management concepts as well as comprehensive knowledge of life cycle assessment and experience with energy and material flow analysis of complex technical systems
Proven success in leading initiatives at a global scale
Fluency in written and spoken English; ideally also fluent in German
