SAP’s Global Licensing organization is responsible for partnering with third party providers, to negotiate and acquire the rights to use and integrate third-party Intellectual Properties (software, web/cloud services, content, etc.) into SAP products and solutions, in accordance with SAP product licensing standards. As a function, Global Licensing also manages the lifecycle of third-party agreements; ensures SAP’s compliance with third party contractual requirements; and approves third-party IP usage in SAP products and solutions, per negotiated terms. We work in close cooperation with SAP Development and Product Lines of Business, with Tech Legal, Global Support, Finance Controlling, Partner Ecosystem organizations, Field Sales areas, etc.
In short, we help to enable and expedite the creation of amazing SAP products and services.
 
THE OPPORTUNITY
This role is part of Global Licensing’s Licensing Management team, consisting of leading contract negotiations with external partners, and assessing third party use-terms against SAP’s standards. Other activities include supporting internal stakeholders in various Exec Board areas: Global Finance & Accounting, Customer Success, Product Engineering and Technology & Innovation. Our efforts also include initiatives and projects to improve, simplify and standardize the existing processes in the Commercial Inbound Licensing team.
 
The Position currently reports to the Licensing Management Co-Lead, based in Prague.
 
WHAT YOU´LL DO
Specific tasks may include the following:
•    Negotiation of third-party agreements, which includes providing templates to potential partners, providing clarifications, aligning internal teams and responses
•    Review of third-party agreements and/or online terms and assess them against the SAP standard terms & conditions

•    Preparing & presenting approval requests, risk assessments and mitigation plans, in close cooperation with other stakeholders

•    License review and risk evaluation of various forms of third-party IP and other materials, including (Free) Third-party web APIs/services

•    Performing reviews of existing agreements, in support of Licensing Validation requests for Test & Evaluation, and Test, Development & Demo product releases

•    Providing guidance regarding the Inbound Licensing related processes and policies, to internal and external stakeholders
•    High level (i.e. not on software developer level) review of the technical integration of third-party IP

•    Interpreting license materials, as well as technical use cases, to help SAP make informed decisions
•    Continuously enhancing, simplifying, and improving the third-party license review process, in collaboration with the SAP legal team

•    Coordination and execution of special and complex ad-hoc tasks
•    Managing contract life-cycle, including drafting and executing amendments, handling terminations, renewals, Supporting partners with general contract administration topics, etc. 
•    The role will entail taking ownership of a portfolio of existing partner agreements  
•    Supporting defined projects across Global Licensing & Royalty Management, taking over work packages and workstreams
 
WHAT YOU BRING
Desired skills and characteristics
•    At least 2 years of active and direct ownership of contract negotiations and drafting experience
•    Proficiency in reading, interpreting and drafting complex commercial agreements
•    Familiarity with licensing, risk assessment and compliance, preferably in software or any digital industry
•    Strong business acumen
•    Project management experience
•    Experience within Finance roles would be a big plus
•    High service attitude, while making no compromises on compliance
•    Ability to think proactively and create pragmatic solutions
•    Good analytical skills
•    High level of ownership, responsibility, motivation, and drive
•    Be a flexible team player able to deal with transition and change
•    Being able to work independently
•    Open for new topics, learning and assignments
•    Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
•    Strong networking skills
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
