The Global Logistics Manager is part of the Global Logistics team and is accountable for the strategy and oversight of the International Transportation function across Valmont's locations in NA, CALA, EMEA, and APAC regions. This role collaborates with regional transportation teams to: 1) enhance overall enterprise value chains for customers, 2) implement policies and processes that reduce costs while improving service and working capital, 3) identify and adopt best-in-class processes, technologies, and talent, 4) assess and strengthen the logistics team's capabilities, and 5) minimize risk while driving EHSS and ESG initiatives. Operating within a matrix-managed organization, the manager will not only define the function’s vision and direction but also influence and negotiate with other business units to adopt its recommendations. The role involves working closely with internal management teams (Sales, Operations, Quality, Sourcing, etc.) and external partners such as freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and government agencies. The Global Logistics Manager must stay updated on trends in international transportation, including pricing, capacity, business practices, and regulatory changes in the countries where the company operates. As Valmont’s global footprint evolves, the manager will continuously improve logistics operations and potentially create new models to align with the organization’s growth objectives. The position also supports global business units to develop a unified model that addresses international challenges, risks, and trends. **Essential Functions:** + Reports to the Senior Director of Global Logistics + Requires up to 20% domestic/international travel, including overnight stays + Manages a team of four International Transportation team members in NA and regional leaders in CALA, EMEA, and APAC + Acts as a subject matter expert on global transportation and stays informed on industry trends + Leads continuous process improvement for international transportation, procurement, and vendor relations + Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers **Additional Role Details:** + Leads global contract negotiations and creates region-specific or global contracts with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers + Implements and manages logistics service provider performance metrics and reporting worldwide + Partners with Tax and Trade Compliance teams to ensure customs compliance across regions + Develops and executes global risk mitigation strategies + Prepares executive summaries for key initiatives and market trends for leadership + Manages large strategic projects with minimal supervision using project management best practices + Leads logistics efforts during mergers or acquisitions + Establishes and maintains relationships with third-party carriers and freight forwarders, managing performance through scorecards + Supports the use and update of global systems like TMS and track and trace software + Works with procurement to negotiate freight terms and resolve supplier-side shipping/export issues + Possesses knowledge of HTS codes, ECCN, Incoterms, and Letters of Credit (UCP 600 Rules) **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) with 7+ years in international transportation or supply chain OR Associates with 9+ years OR 11+ years of relevant experience + Experience in air and ocean shipping, forwarding, customs clearance, documentation, and duty drawback + Strong knowledge of TMS, global track and trace systems, and MRP/ERP systems + Analytical and financial skills, with experience in cost management and supply/demand forecasting + Experience negotiating global transportation agreements and managing third-party logistics providers + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook + Able to travel up to 20% domestic/international travel, including overnight stays **Preferred Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in Business, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or Finance + Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) + Experience with Logistics Control Towers and leading change management efforts \#LI-JC1 \#LI - Remote **Benefits** Valmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
