I further attest that all information I submit in my employment application is true to the best of my knowledge. **Job Description** **Primary Accountabilities:** + Leads development and execution of multi-year global medical strategy for the TAK-279 (Zasocitinib) IBD, New indications and LCM, appropriately aligned with overall asset strategy and GPT, incorporating various functional strategies across functions in R&D and Global Portfolio Division (Clinical, Medical, Regulatory, Global Evidence and Outcome (GEO), PV, Global Product Launch Strategy (GPLS), Marketing and Commercial Excellence (MCE), and the countries/LOCs). + Serves as the global scientific expert within Takeda in support of TAK-279 (Zasocitinib) IBD, New indications and LCM . + Leads the Medical Strategy Team (MST) TAK-279 (Zasocitinib) IBD, New indications and LCM. + Responsible for development execution of Global Medical plans and collaboration with the counties/LOCs as appropriate. + Develop and manage the Global Medical budget. + Acts as a senior company representative interacting with external scientific leaders, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities. + Establishes appropriate strategic partnerships with centers of excellence, patient organizations, and expert HCPs for TAK-279 (Zasocitinib) IBD, and new indications. + Collaborates with Legal, Ethics, Compliance and Regulatory functions to ensure appropriate interactions between Global Medical personnel and external stakeholders. **Key Responsibilities:** **Defines GM strategy and plans:** + Leads development of multi-year medical strategy forTAK-279 (Zasocitinib) IBD, New indications and LCM, publications strategy, congress strategy, customer interaction strategy, the scientific communication platform for the disease area / brand(s) aligned with product strategy, BD medical activities and digital strategy. + Oversees development of in-year medical tactical plan and budget for the global initiatives + Leads functional (e.g. publications, medical communications, medical training) and in-line teams in developing plans supporting Global Medical strategy. + Leads the collaboration with commercial/GPLS/MCE to ensure aligned and medically appropriate commercial strategy, planning and execution. + Participates in development of product strategy; co-creates with Product Strategy Teams and GPTs. + Develops and defines GM team goals and key performance metrics. **Leads the Medical Strategy Teams (MST):** + Collaborates with Legal, Ethics, Compliance, Regulatory and Medical Training to ensure understanding and adherence of GM team to Takeda and external policies and regulations. + Coordinates with the Head, Global Immunology TA, MSTs, and MEST to define and address global medical team training and professional development needs as well as training needs related to the product/disease area. + Mentor, coach, and develop Global Medical team. + Monitor team performance and identify areas for development. **Oversees and manages in-year implementation of GM strategy, potentially including:** + Providing physician leadership for scientific communications and evidence generation strategy, including standard responses and publications. + Planning, designing, and managing global advisory boards and collaborating with regional and LOC activities. + Providing medical review and approval of Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) proposals and other grants through the grant approval process. + Leading design and execution of clinical studies with Global Medical Evidence (phase IIIb/IV, disease registries, epidemiological studies, outcomes surveys, etc.) in close collaboration with R&D functions including GEO. + Monitor and communicate progress against medical plan; propose and initiate initiatives as need to adjust to changing disease area landscape. + Overseeing medical review and approval of promotional and meeting materials as needed **Interaction with external stakeholders in alignment with customer needs and medical strategy:** + Acts as a senior company representative with external scientific leaders, policy makers, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities. + Establishes and/or enhances partnerships with key academic institutions and develops relationships with key thought leaders. + Acts as a senior company representative interacting with external scientific leaders, patient advocacy groups and/or regulatory authorities. + Establishes appropriate strategic partnerships with HCPs in areas of scientific interest. + Represent Global Medical at internal and external meetings. + Presents data on product / therapeutic area. **Education and Experience Requirements:** + A medical degree is required, preferably with training in GI or internal medicine + >10 years of experience in biopharmaceutical medicine, preferably within a matrix or franchise structure. + Experience in medical affairs is required, preferably in GI and IBD. + Experience leading teams at the brand or disease area levels in country, regional or global organizations is required. + Experience in field-based roles (e.g. Medical Director, Medical Science Liaison) and/or clinical development is helpful. + Experience in the GI and IBD through clinical experience, biopharmaceutical experience, or education is preferred. **Key Skills, abilities, and Competencies:** + Demonstrated business acumen. + Proven track record of leading effective collaboration of large multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams to an aligned goal. + Proven track record of fostering open discussion, contrarian views, trust, and teamwork across countries, regions, and functions. + Ability to think strategically from a medical perspective and engage with cross functional partners about how to support the growth of a brand. + Ability to work in a Global environment, across diverse cultures. + Ability to successfully influence and negotiate across and outside of the organization. + Ability to represent company’s interest in scientific forums as needed. + Strong clinical skills and understanding of clinical trial design. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to lead and motivate large teams and drive initiatives without direct line management authority. + Results orientation and accountability. + Good analytical skills as applied to medical, scientific and technical information. + Unquestioned ethics are a must. **Complexity and Problem Solving:** + Development of both pipeline and in-line GM strategy for the product/disease area. + Representation of GM and contribution to a range of internal functional groups. + External stakeholder management and engagement. + Development and management of the global disease area budgets. **Internal and External Contacts** : + Position is accountable to VP/Head, Immunology TA, Global Medical. + Internal: Member of brand GPTs for the respective pipeline and inline brands in scope. + Leader of the Medical Strategy Team(s) as appropriate. + External: Key academic, professional, regulatory, policy, patient advocacy leaders, strategic vendor partners. **Other Job Requirements:** + Availability to travel up to 30% of time. + Some activities may call for early or late meetings and attendances at scientific meetings on holidays and weekends. **Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary** We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location. U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives.
