The Global Policy Lead is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and managing policies on a global scale that ensure the platform’s safety, compliance, and responsible innovation. The role is crucial in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, supporting ethical product development, and maintaining a balance between user safety, trust, and innovation.

The Impact You’ll Make

In this role you will work cross-functionally with product, legal, engineering, and operations teams to ensure Nextdoor’s policies are effectively integrated across the platform.

Your Responsibilities will include Policy Development & Strategy: Lead the design and refinement of global platform and product policies In partnership with Product Counsel and Regulatory Counsel, ensure alignment with international legal standards (e.g., US law, GDPR, OSA, DSA) and industry best practices Monitor global regulatory trends to identify emerging risks and opportunities Anticipate emerging policy challenges, identify and mitigate risks associated with policy implementation, including regulatory compliance, content moderation challenges, and data privacy concerns Cross-Functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Co-lead and develop cross-functional programs that are critical to enhancing the vitality of Nextdoor neighborhoods, including Nextdoor’s elections program and crisis response program Partner with cross-functional teams, including Product and Engineering, to proactively shape the platform’s policy roadmap and ensure policy considerations are embedded in product design and development Policy Enforcement: Partner with Support Operations to oversee the implementation of policies across the platform, promoting policy consistency and consistent enforcement Respond to escalations from Trust & Safety and Customer Success teams on policy enforcement issues Collaborate with Trust & Safety and Customer Success teams to monitor policy effectiveness and address gaps in enforcement Participate in in-person Nextdoor events such as trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and team building exercises Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to Nextdoor’s company culture  Rewards

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create our total rewards package. Compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation may also vary by geography.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $155, 000 to $230,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role.

We expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date will take place within 3 months of your start date.
