Job Description
Purpose
The ideal candidate will have solid technical and scientific background and/or pharmaceutical plant experience. Also he/she will have the capability to participate detailed risk assessments/process safety reviews for existing hazardous processes, new product introductions & engineering capital projects. Attention to detail and sound scientific problem solving will be fundamental to this role.
Responsibilities
+ Participate in the PHA program across the network, determine needs additional layers of protection/ safeguard needed in order to prevent major incidents at sites and work with sites to ensure they are implemented.
+ Develop Process Safety guidance documents to define AbbVie’s best practice for individual operations/engineering design with respect to Process Safety.
+ Aid in the application of Process Safety elements as per the project development stages for both Engineering Capital Projects and New Process Introduction/Tech Transfer.
+ Represents MES Process Safety on assigned Tech Transfer or Capital Project. Provide input for Requests for Capital Expenditure (RCE) to ensure that significant Process Safety aspects are properly integrated during the entire Front-End Planning Design Process for new product introduction, Product-transfer from site to site, site to Third Party Manufacturing (TPM), TPM to site and changes/upgrades to existing processes and equipment.
+ Support on site audits, to ensure that on key EHS Technical programs, site comply with applicable Process Safety requirements and corporate policies, utilize best-industrial practices and best available techniques to identify and manage risk, and conform to company directives and standards.
+ Complete and reviews process safety incident investigation and risk assessment screening for management of change.
+ Collect process safety metrics, develop site dashboard for key program, monitors EHS improvement of assigned processes.
+ Champion a culture of Process Safety excellence
+ Key Programs include: Technical Transfers (TT) and New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Capital Projects, EHS Change Management, Process Safety Management, Hazard identification and Risk Assessment: Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Layer of Protection Assessment (LoPA), Inert Gas, Atex Area Classification and Chemical safety.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, and 3-5 years related industry experience.
+ Demonstrated experience in process safety and process safety management systems is required.
+ Training or experience with PHA an advantage
+ Working experience as a process/project projects in a chemical or pharmaceutical setting is preferred.
+ Experience working within a regulatory environment is required.
+ Positive track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal, external clients and customers.
+ Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate with peers, and customers, is required.
+ Strong problem-solving skills.
+ Ability to influence, motivate and empathize with peers, supervisors, middle management and vendors to meet the set goals. Personal skills to facilitate the work in cross functional team environment.
+ Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, communication skills including English, excellent interpersonal and consulting skills, good organizational and computer skills, and positive customer orientation.

+ The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

+ This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.

Salary: $80,500 - $153,000
