The Director of Global Quality is a leadership position reporting to the General Manager / VP, responsible for the overall quality strategy and execution to zero defect culture across Danfoss Turbocor globally. Developing and implementing a 5-year quality road map and maintenance of the Global Business Management System including the tracking and reporting of the business KPI and improvement actions. This position works in a global matrix organization to drive a strong quality culture to ensure world class quality from the NPD, Supplier, Manufacturing and Sales to ensure customer satisfaction and profitable growth. To do so, provides guidance, helps create, and drives initiatives for processes and systems on a global level to all areas of the business. In addition, is responsible to ensure quality systems standards certification or compliance requirements are maintained successfully.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.
Customer Quality
The Customer Quality Group will provide the leadership needed to advocate for the customer and drive alignment with internal DTC functions such that we meet or exceed our customers’ expectations in the quality of products, applications and services. Lead in managing the executive quality relationships with the assigned key customer accounts. Ensure clear and timely communication of customer issues. Work with cross functional teams to apply product quality standards, customer specifications and industry standards and develop testing and evaluation techniques to ensure material quality is to customers’ expectations and requirements. Provide direction and leadership to remote team of FSEs (Field Service Engineers) and supporting internal DTC functions to drive resolution of customer line and field quality issues with our products.
Supplier Quality
The Supplier Quality Group is responsible to provide the leadership needed to align our requirements with suppliers such that we meet or exceed our customers’ expectations. Ensure continue improvement at cross the supplier base including supplier audits and supplier evaluation. Actively work with the procurement teams and development teams to develop and qualify new suppliers to meet our needs and requirements
Business Management Systems
The Quality Group is responsible for ensuring the systems and process used to run the organization are properly identified, documented, controlled, and that they meet all standard requirements. Continually evaluate risks helping the leadership team to prioritize and adjust continuously the business to minimize overall business risks. It is the responsibility of the Business Management Systems team to ensure the organization achieves the desired level of certification and/or compliance and to maintain that desired level for any and all customer, regulatory, or system standards. The Business Management System is developed to track and maintain the organizations targets and objectives and to provide reaction when they are not being met. As continuous improvement is a requirement of the Business Management System, it is indicative that the team continuously searches for industry best practices in all aspects of the organization.
Quality Assurance
Promote and Drive “Zero Defect” mentality within the quality organization for proactive tools such Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis, Advance Product and Quality Planning (APQP) Statistical Process control (SPC) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA). The internal audit program managed by the QA team is used to verify the systems and process implemented by the various departments within the organization both meet all standard requirements and are being used in the manner for which they were developed. Product audits are managed by the QC team, but completed by a cross functional group including shipping, the R&D lab, and manufacturing. Corrective actions (product and process) are audited and signed off on by the QA team.
Miscellaneous
Verify APQP Tool & Statistical Usage and assist in APQP Tool Knowledge Support Corporate Quality with Lessons Learned and Audit requirements as needed. Assist in Quality Tool Training sessions, as needed. Work with the other organizations to drive improvement within their processes.Background & Skills
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Reliability Engineering, Physics or equivalent 10+ years of industry experience in customer services, manufacturing, design, test and/or reliability. Experience in commercial/industrial quality operations is a must. Understanding the manufacturing and testing of mechanical systems is necessary Experience in mechatronics manufacturing, controls, software and electronics is required. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and experience in working with outsourcing companies is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks and work within a multi-disciplinary team. Significant experience developing and implementing strategies for the use of digital applications and technologies to improve the customer experience Significant experience in developing and implementing strategies for the collection, analysis and utilization of customer satisfaction, customer feedback and other data to help improve the customer experience Experience in building cross functional relationships, across different organizational levels and in multi-cultural settings Management experience in cross functional team environment Excellent problem-solving skills Demonstrated technical competence
