Global Senior Buyer - Hydraulics

Job Overview

Negotiate prices with suppliers annually and ensure the adoption of those prices within each region accurately to ensure proper product costing throughout the supply chain.

 

Coordinate all hydraulics sourcing, setup, FA approval, and long-term production monitoring for the globe.

 

Ensure the suppliers are following SLQDC principles through creation and use of metrics and scorecards.

 

Identify areas of poor performance within the supply base and work with the supplier to improve or work to replace the supplier.

 

Be the gatekeeper for all global purchase orders into the hydraulics suppliers and design the purchasing process that best suits the world.

 

Design a logistics network that ensures timely delivery of finished product from the external supplier to the end use customer at lowest cost to the business.

 

Work with the rest of the Global Sourcing Team to strategically redesign our outsourcing footprint for hydraulics to ensure parts are going to the most capable suppliers in the most advantageous locations at the lowest cost to Komatsu.

 

Coordinate between the supplier and engineering to strategically redesign our products or the qualification process to allow for better manufacturability at the external supply base.

 

Coordinate with the product groups to strategize the future of the hydraulics suppliers and building them up or shrinking them down to match the long-term product group strategy.

Key Job Responsibilities

Maintain direct contact with Suppliers and Sub-Contractors to ensure activity is in line with plan and any deviation is dealt with promptly.

 

            Be an active member of the strategic sourcing team to build out a resilient global network.

 

            Provide direction to quality, ME’s. engineering relative to issues and problems affecting performance of the supplier.

 

            Participate in meetings at local and global level regarding Production, Purchasing, Logistics and SAP.

 

            Apply cost saving initiatives across all products.

 

            Review and implement findings of Supplier review relative to delivery and quality performance.

Qualifications/Requirements

The post holder should have:

            The ability to plan, organise, prioritise and communicate effectively.

            Good commercial awareness in financial and material management matters.

            Good negotiation skills.

            An understanding of MRP, ideally SAP.

            Computer literacy.

            A knowledge of import and export procedures.

            A good standard of education together with qualifications in Business and the Institute of        Purchasing and

Supply is desirable.

A working Product knowledge for mining products
