Global Strategic Sourcing Manager
**Alamo Group Inc.** is accepting applications to fill a **Global Strategic Sourcing Manager** position at its Corporate Headquarters located in Seguin, TX. The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager (Commodities, Low-Cost Countries, MRO) will be responsible for managing and overseeing all strategic and tactical aspects of Alamo Group supplier management, consolidation, performance, quality, delivery, cost, service/support, product standardization & commonization required to support Alamo Group’s short-term and long-term objectives. This individual will support all Alamo Group supply chain organizations toward continuous improvements in supplier acquisition costs and supply chain processes within the Strategic Sourcing and Supply Chain Management disciplines. Responsibilities will include high-volume commodity products, low-cost country sourcing, MRO products & services, and selected capital goods. This will involve a large Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering interface with member companies for identified strategic sourcing projects and supplier consolidation opportunities with major Alamo Group preferred suppliers. Strong negotiating skills are essential. The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager will work cooperatively with supply chain management team members in the Alamo Group unit companies with respect to strategic supply chain initiatives, compliance issues and policy. **The Global Strategic Sourcing Manager will:** 1. Develop and promote “Best Practices” for all Alamo Group supply chain management disciplines. 2. Manage Alamo wide cost improvement projects for improved leverage through global or continental supplier and design consolidation and growth with preferred suppliers for the product categories and commodities designated under this responsibility. 3. Negotiate, leverage, and establish long-term global Alamo Group Commercial Supply Agreements with selected preferred suppliers. Lead or assist in agreement negotiations with preferred suppliers to secure favorable terms and improved supplier performance through supplier consolidation and growth. Prioritize based on spend and cost improvement potential. 4. Negotiate, leverage total Alamo Group spend, and establish optimal supplier sales channels for OEM direct vs. distribution based on pricing, lowest cost of ownership, and value-added requirements. 5. Serve as a leader in the development & implementation of the Commodity Code Classification systems, Supplier EDI Portal, MPS/MRP/ERP, performance analytics, standardized RFP and cost evaluation processes, and other supply chain improvements. 6. Identify product design consolidation, standardization, and commonization opportunities to improve volumes and cost across the enterprise. 7. Collaborate with operational strategic sourcing, tactical purchasing, engineering, transportation, and senior management to support operational goals and improvements. 8. Develop cost improvement, standardization, and supplier consolidation objectives for overall corporate-wide and company performance improvements. Promote and support collaborative Cost Improvement Teams (CIT) with mutual cost improvement objectives within the Alamo Group companies to include Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Admin personnel as required to support supplier cost/process improvements and design standardization objectives. Most new opportunities provide supplier consolidation and product standardization opportunities during new product development, major redesigns, and strategic sourcing projects that typically require cooperative Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing Teams to achieve successful results. 9. Prioritize Cost Improvement Team (CIT) projects based on cost improvement potential vs resources required for implementation. 10. Arrange for periodic management meetings with preferred suppliers to review improvements, growth objectives, and progress related to quality, delivery, cost, and service/support performance. 11. Visit and meet with our management teams at Alamo Group company locations to build collaborative relationships, review project plans, and develop opportunities for improvements. 12. Communicate and distribute market-wide updates and news releases regarding business conditions related to the designated product categories under his/her responsibilities. 13. Provide updates to the master monthly SCM Team & CIT Project Action Plan reports with completed cost improvement totals YTD. This report will be distributed to the appropriate management and supply chain teams at all locations. 14. Attend and provide updates in the monthly virtual SCM Team Meeting with all team members to review the latest market, company, and supply chain developments. Review selected projects, updates, obtain feedback, and develop collaboration with team members. Attend and contribute to annual SCM Team conferences for all members at chosen sites. 15. Promote and support development of analytical tools and programs for measuring supplier in-house & field quality and delivery performance for production & service materials requirements. 16. Develop standardized procedures for Price Change Evaluations & History Database, RFPs, and Price Comparison Evaluations. 17. Contribute to the development of Alamo Group SCM goals & objectives and KPI’s. Develop key measurements and objectives for supplier consolidations via Commercial Supply Agreements, cost improvements, supplier quality & delivery improvements, cash flow, inventory turns, and RONA improvements. Improve application of supplier value-added services (Technical services, VMI, consignments, safety stock agreements, price controls, growth rebates, extended warranties, etc.). 18. Pursue cost, delivery, and support/service improvements with verified high-quality LCC suppliers. Develop a close relationship between the Transportation & Logistics Manager for improved costs and processes for ocean transport. 19. Support Alamo Group sustainability goals & initiatives, especially related to Scope 3 Emissions (returnable containers & packaging, supplier GHG product emissions, etc.). Will require extensive supplier collaboration, feedback, and cooperation. 20. Support Alamo Group government compliance regulations (REACH/SCIP, EPA, OSHA, etc.). Ability to learn and use well-informed negotiation techniques that rely more on facts, product knowledge, financial acumen, persuasion, business growth, and relationship-building than forcefulness. 2. Excellent interpersonal skills required to interface with a wide range of personnel from the shop floor to senior management. Must have the ability to enlist support for proposed strategies and initiatives, create buy-in and ultimate acceptance of a wide-range of "change" requirements. 3. Excellent and persistent project management follow-up skills. Must be an independent thinker with the ability to work effectively in a self-directed environment. 4. Ability to present ideas, plans, and progress reports individually or to a group in formal presentations. 5. Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience interacting with and presenting to suppliers, internal team members, and senior management. Ability to write reports, letters, and profiles in a clear concise manner. 6. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of global market challenges, organizational scale requirements, international logistics, and the regulatory processes needed to support a growing U.S. publicly traded global business. 7. Skilled and proficient with the use of personal computers, Microsoft Office, and mainstream office software. 8. Ability to build and foster effective business relationships with executives, managers, suppliers, and domestic and international internal/external customers. 9. Ability to proactively identify complex issues and review related information to develop, evaluate and recommend options and solutions successfully, to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, and to communicate sound conclusions or approaches to a problem. 10. Ability to effectively communicate and influence sound conclusions or approaches and transfer knowledge to others. 11. Ability to work irregular and/or extended hours including weekends and holidays as needed to support the Company’s international activities. 13. Ability to travel domestically and internationally by commercial air carrier and automobile, including overnight stays; travel approximately 20-25%. 14. An Engineering degree or professional engineering trade certification is preferred. + 5-7 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline, preferably with a multi-site global machinery manufacturing company required. + ISM / APICS and trade association memberships and certifications (i.e. CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, others) are encouraged and preferred. + Experience in financial analysis of business alternatives preferred. + Experience in Value Engineering, LEAN or Six Sigma preferred. **Working Conditions:** Work performed primarily in an office environment, with frequent sitting for extended periods of time and occasional walking in and around a metal manufacturing plant. Occasional lifting of 10 pounds independently; and stooping, reaching, and/or bending to perform accounting clerical/filing requirements.
