To strengthen our Global Logistics department, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Global Trade Compliance Manager. This position is based in our hub in Braine, Belgium.
About the Role
This role is crucial in driving trade compliance across our global operations, ensuring adherence to customs regulations, export control regulations, and other relevant international trade legislation. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Global Trade Compliance Lead to safeguard and enhance relevant procedures and internal controls, monitor performance, and strategize for innovation to maintain an uninterrupted supply chain in full compliance with international legislation and sanctions.

What You Will Do
Lead and manage activities that drive and sustain trade compliance, illuminating risks in global operations.Support new product launches by reviewing trade flows for customs and export control purposes.Stay current on regulatory changes, assess their impact, and adopt a risk-based approach to ensure compliance.Manage projects and programs to enhance trade compliance for UCB’s controlled substances.Provide regulatory interpretation and guidance on customs and international trade such as, but not limited to, free trade agreements, CBAM, anti-boycott/restrictive trade practices, export licensing, restricted parties, controlled substances management, and sanctions (EU and US legislation focus).Develop and deliver improvement efforts to drive efficient performance in the trade network.Support UCB stakeholders with inquiries on customs topics (e.g., customs valuation, country of origin, preferential origin, tariff classification, incoterms, customs procedures).Support UCB stakeholders with inquiries on export control topics (e.g., dual-use classification, sanctioned party screening, sanctioned countries and regions screening).
Interested? For this position, you’ll need the following education, experience, and skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Commerce, Logistics, International Trade, or a related field.Minimum 3 years of experience in Customs and/or Export Control.Experience in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry is a strong plus.Proficient level in Excel.Fluent in English, both written and spoken – French is a definite plus.Highly organized, with strong analytical skills and a passion for legal texts.Are you ready to ‘go beyond’ to create value and make your mark for patients?
