What You'll Do

Role Overview:
As a key member of BCG’s Global IT UX CoE, you will lead the design of user experiences for the firm’s Gen AI portfolio. Your work will focus on leading UX strategy in the development of virtual assistants and large language models (LLMs) to enhance the consulting lifecycle, leveraging Gen AI technologies to improve productivity and deliver a competitive advantage for BCG’s clients. We are seeking a highly creative and experienced Design Leader with a passion for crafting intuitive, engaging, and impactful AI-driven products and services.

You will define the strategic vision for GenAI product experiences, aligning UX objectives with business goals and client needs. By advocating for user-centered design, you will balance innovation, practicality, and business impact while identifying market trends to leverage GenAI for competitive advantage. Collaborating with other UX Chapter Leads, you will establish standards and guardrails to ensure consistent, high-quality UX across all GenAI products.

As a Design Lead, you will direct the engagements of CoE Chapter members across Digital Product Teams, serving as their line manager and fostering their professional development. You will oversee a team of Experience Designers embedded in Digital Product Teams, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and promoting their growth as practitioners.

In addition to your leadership role, you will actively contribute as a “player-coach,” embedding yourself in portfolios or squads to focus on research and interaction design. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and advancing your own UX expertise, ensuring that both you and your team remain at the forefront of industry practices to deliver exceptional user experiences that drive BCG’s GenAI initiatives forward.

 

Key Responsibilities:

UX Vision and Strategy: Define the strategic vision for GenAI product experiences, aligning with business goals and client needs. Advocate for user-centered design to balance innovation, practicality, and business impact. Identify market trends to leverage GenAI for competitive advantage.Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with AI engineers, data scientists, product managers, and consulting teams to integrate UX into GenAI technologies and ensure alignment across product roadmaps.Innovative and Scalable Design: Lead the creation of ethical, intuitive, and inclusive interfaces for GenAI products, addressing challenges like explainability, trust, and scalability. Evangelize scalable design systems to ensure consistency and support rapid iteration.Execution and Delivery: Collaborate with senior stakeholders to deliver solutions from discovery through MVP to scalable deployment, aligning designs with technical constraints while driving innovation.Team Leadership and Mentorship: Establish UX standards for GenAI products in collaboration with UX Chapter Leads. Mentor and develop designers, strategists, and researchers, fostering professional growth and advancing expertise in GenAI-focused UX practices.Practitioner Skills : Oversee user research, usability testing, and behavioral data analysis to validate concepts and refine solutions. Direct the creation of wireframes, prototypes, and design systems to ensure cohesive and consistent user experiences.

Strategic Thinking & Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to define long-term UX strategies, align them with organizational goals, and effectively collaborate with senior leadership to balance priorities in emerging domains like GenAI. Value Measurement: Proven ability to define, measure, and communicate the business and user value of design solutions, leveraging data-driven insights and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive decision-making.UX Transformation & Change Management: Experience driving large-scale UX adoption, fostering organizational alignment with user-centered practices, and leading transformation initiatives.Research Expertise: Proficient in mixed methods research (generative and evaluative), leveraging tools like Qualtrics, Dovetail, Maze, and Usertesting.com to inform design decisions.Design & Prototyping Skills: Mastery of design tools such as Sketch, Figma, and Adobe Suite, with expertise in creating visually compelling and user-friendly interfaces.Design Systems & Methodologies: Deep knowledge of design systems, atomic design principles, and component-based libraries to ensure consistency and scalability.UX Principles & Accessibility Standards: Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards across web, mobile, and responsive platforms.Technical Fluency & Collaboration: Familiarity with front-end development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and strong skills in cross-functional communication and presentation.

What You'll Bring

Experience:

Extensive Product Design Experience: 12+ years in product design within consultancy, agency, or technology-driven environments, including 5+ years in similar leadership roles.AI-Driven and Enterprise Solutions: Proven experience designing AI-driven software products from POC to MVP, with expertise in enterprise-level solutions integrating AI across diverse use cases and industries.Scalable UX Solutions: Track record of deploying UX solutions at scale, addressing multi-region rollout, diverse user personas, and cross-team alignment.Global Team Leadership: Skilled in leading UX workstreams across large, global teams and time zones, collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.End-to-End Design Lifecycle: Proficient in all stages of the design lifecycle, from product discovery to delivery, with strong knowledge of agile, scrum, and design thinking methodologies.Team Leadership and Mentorship: Experienced in leading and managing design teams, mentoring individuals, and fostering a culture of experimentation and growth.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
