The Workplace Design Guidelines and Standards team is looking for an experienced Program Manager (PM) with strong cross-functional leadership skills to lead the development and adoption of team processes and mechanisms, document and maintain team operating procedures, playbooks and Wikis, and identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This role will own the Workplace Guidelines Team intake and prioritization mechanism, co-own shared intakes with partnering teams, and represent Workplace Guidelines in upstream change management forums. In collaboration with the wider Workplace Design and Construction org, the PM will develop strategic solutions for complex problems and drive operational efficiency through standardization and automation. The Workplace Guidelines and Standards team’s mission is to deliver best-in-class, fully-integrated, accessible, and easily navigable documentation supporting the consistent design and delivery of corporate workplaces. This team ensures design practices align with Amazon’s high standards for corporate space, focusing on both innovative solutions and practical application across various design disciplines. As a PM, you will have direct responsibility for coordinating with a wide variety of cross-functional partners to support the Workplace Guidelines Team’s delivery of business-as-usual and yearly goals.
You bring most or all of the following to the role:
• Experience with program management of one or several of the following disciplines: graphic design, architecture, interior design, property development, planning, procurement, facilities management, and/or construction.
• Intermediate to advanced experience with Box, Microsoft Office, and Smartsheet.
• Strong behaviors in critical thinking, problem solving, issue resolution, risk assessment, and high attention-to-detail.
• Experience with digital asset management and metadata-driven data architecture.
• Experience working in a matrixed organization.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead intra-team intake and change management forums and decision-making strategies.
• Represent Workplace Guidelines in upstream change management forums and reviews of business case change request justifications.
• Develop, publish, and maintain playbooks.
• Develop, drive adoption of, and maintain tools and procedures to accelerate the organization’s ability to adapt to changing priorities and urgent requests.
• Develop and manage processes and programs to support continuous improvement.
A day in the life
The Workplace Guidelines Program Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify root causes from lessons learned, track change requests, and develop end-to-end complex programs and initiatives. A day in the life might be spent navigating and balancing multiple conversations, written requests, design options, stakeholder feedback, and general constraints to develop strategies to accelerate team-level delivery. You work autonomously and creatively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. As a leader in the program management discipline, you role model best practices, influencing and operating at all levels - technical and non-technical - to overcome obstacles and deliver results. Your attention to detail and ability to inspect issues and processes brings simplified solutions to complex problems.
