We have an exciting opportunity for a Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Deorbit Vehicle Oversight Engineer to join the team with JETS II Teammate Company, Nexus Solutions.\n

This position will work on the JETS ISS Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Capture (RPOC) Team providing technical oversight, program integration, and certification of ISS visiting vehicle Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) systems in support of the US Deorbit Vehicle (USDV) mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The selected applicant will:\n\nCertify GN&C system requirements compliance through review of analysis and test reports, including assessment of navigation sensor performance, trajectory dispersions, and other GN&C parameters\nCertify fault tolerance safety requirements compliance through review of GN&C related hazard reports and associated verification evidence, including communicating issues to a Safety Review Panel\nIdentify and recommend solutions to GN&C\/RPO performance issues\nCommunicate status of compliance reviews to ISS program management\nConduct performance assessments on visiting vehicle GN&C data for Program compliance\nReview Monte Carlo trajectory analyses using independent 6 degrees-of-freedom simulations\nProvide input to operational products, such as flight rules and on-orbit demonstration plans\nProvide visiting vehicle's GN&C mission console support during real-time ground monitoring\nMaintain relationships with a diverse technical team, including personnel from engineering, safety, flight operations, crew office, and visiting vehicle providers\nPerform other duties as required\n\nQualifications\n

Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.\n\nTypically requires a bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering school and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area\nExperience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles\nUnderstanding of entry, descent, landing GN&C principles\nKnowledge in the development of GN&C algorithms and spacecraft system analysis\nExperience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GN&C hardware and software\nExperience with the development of space system requirements and documents\nStrong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance on a collaborative engineering team\nAbility to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision\nExcellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills\nAbility to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and contractor employees\nExperience with Microsoft Office products\n\n

Requisition Preferences:\n\nMS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GN&C, flight controls, and orbital mechanics\nExperience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and capture\/docking\nFamiliarity with spacecraft docking systems\nExperience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GN&C hardware and software\nWorking knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements (including safety)\nExperience with NASA flight operations and procedures\nFamiliarity with NASA\/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites\nExperience with LINUX, Python, and C\/C++\nExperience with MATLAB and Simulink toolboxes\nExperience with the NASA Trick simulation architecture and JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics)\nExperience with Git\/GitLab version control\u200b\n
