We are pleased to announce the opening for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Engineer, who will join our Technical Solutions division in Huntsville, AL and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control marketspaces. The nSI Research and Development (R&D) Team seeks to deploy new products for military and commercial use. As part of the R&D Team at nSI, the successful candidate will support and lead projects that develop and exploit new technologies. The candidate will be expected to participate in securing funding through proposals to the Government and private funding sources.
Responsibilities:
+ Design and implement algorithms for tracking, guidance, navigation, and control for close-range proximity operations.
+ State estimation of own-ship and detected objects via sensor fusion algorithms.
+ Collaborate with spacecraft and payload engineers to define system requirements.
+ Develop software including simulation frameworks and flight algorithms.
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in the hard sciences (physics, mathematics, etc.) or engineering.
+ 5+ years of full-time professional experience.
+ Ability to analyze trade-offs and solve problems both independently and as part of a team.
+ Intellectual curiosity and interest in sensor-based control and data acquisition.
+ Possess or be able to obtain an active Top Secret clearance.
+ U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:
+ Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field.
+ 10+ years of professional experience.
+ Broad knowledge of a variety of technical subjects coupled with the ability to confidently dive deep on unfamiliar subjects when necessary.
+ Experience with requirements analysis and decomposition into specifications, designs, and testable components.
+ Proficiency with one or more of the following:
+ Small satellites or CubeSats, especially with previous flight experience
+ Spacecraft dynamics and orbital mechanics, including low thrust trajectory optimization.
+ Kalman filtering and stochastic processing through fusion of inertial, GNSS, and optical sensors
+ Flight control systems
+ 3-DOF and 6-DOF simulation
+ Modeling and simulation of control systems
+ Model-based systems engineering
+ Fault detection and recovery techniques
+ Flight software development and testing
+ Implementation of control algorithms in a real-time environment in the presence of pipeline latency, data timing jitter, etc.
+ MATLAB, Python, C++, FPrime, cFS
