Purpose of Role

The Data Analytics intern will assist the Data Management & Analytics team (within the Kinross Corporate IT department) with projects related to mining operations and supporting key business initiatives. The intern will play a significant role on the design and development of business intelligence (BI) reporting solutions and contribute to various ad-hoc projects in collaboration with departments and mine site/project teams.

Job Responsibilities Work closely with the Manager, Reporting & Analytics to build data visualization solutions, primarily using Power BI Document and analyze data flows from source systems through repositories to end-user data marts or applications Promote self-service analytics by empowering less-technical users to create reports and perform analyses independently Assist with data discovery for mine-related systems such as: Dispatch, Historian, Ore Production, etc. Support the implementation of the new Kinross Analytics Framework Qualifications and Skills Enrolled in a 2nd or 3rd year Business, Math, Statistics, Engineering, Science, or related program at an accredited college or university Reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI will be considered a significant asset Knowledge of SQL, Python, and Databricks will be considered a very strong skill set Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders; a high degree of professionalism is required Excellent organizational and documentation skills with great attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for data-related activities such as: data discovery, data management, data engineering, data governance, data visualization, and data modeling Exposure to business intelligence tools and techniques, as well as experience with technical documentation
