Minimum qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
+ 10 years of experience working with government, think tanks, public interest groups, technology industry groups, or companies on issues around technology policy.
+ 10 years of experience working on policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, or industry associations.
Preferred qualifications:
+ Experience in advising and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders on policy strategies.
+ Understanding of YouTube’s primary product offerings and their intersection with the public policy environment.
+ Knowledge of current and emerging public policy trends relating to online content platforms and technology.
+ Ability to seamlessly switch between subject matter, types of projects, responsibilities, and operate in a fluid environment with great judgment and steadfast collegiality.
+ This is a primarily external facing role that requires interactions in English and French with local stakeholders.
+ Excellent communication skills, and be a humble ambassador.
As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
As a member of the Government Affairs and Public Policy team at YouTube, you will be an ambassador for YouTube’s issues and interests with policymakers and key opinion formers in Ottawa and across Canada. You will be an expert in the Canadian federal policy environment affecting YouTube’s business operations and understand how to have impact on behalf of the company.
+ Develop and execute YouTube’s policy strategy in Canada, utilizing cross-functional teams to accomplish policy goals.
+ Monitor and impact issues affecting YouTube’s business operations and interests in the Canadian political context.
+ Work with YouTube Product teams to advise on market risks and opportunities.
