Government Health Senior Actuarial Analyst

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Government Human Service Consultant (GHSC) team at Mercer. This role can be based in Phoenix or Minneapolis, and it is a hybrid role with a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

Medicaid is a government-sponsored health insurance program in the United States designed to provide healthcare coverage to low-income individuals and families. As a consulting firm specializing in Medicaid, Mercer’s GHSC team assists state governments in optimizing their Medicaid programs. Our team plays a vital role in managing and analyzing Medicaid claims data to enhance patient access to care, improve cost efficiency, and elevate the quality of services provided to these individuals.

We will count on you to:

Utilize technical expertise in Microsoft Excel and SAS/SQL to support capitation rate setting and other actuarial projectsUnder the direction of the actuarial team, incorporate rate setting data and assumptions into actuarial models and inform the project teams on the impact of data and assumptionsParticipate in the drafting of project communications, including rate certification letters, presentations and other client communicationsSupport project teams in finalizing capitation rates while learning the implications of Medicaid policies on data and ratesCollaborate with a group of colleagues on smaller team-based assignments, with opportunities to participate in larger scale client and industry projectsWork in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic consulting environment with colleagues across all organizational levels to meet and exceed client demands and deadlines

What you need to have: 

BA/BS degreeA commitment to achieving a Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation, as demonstrated by having passed at least one SOA1+ years minimum actuarial experience, with Medicaid or healthcare actuarial experience strongly preferredProficiency with MS Excel, SAS/SQL or similar programs

Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one “anchor day” per week on which their full team will be together in person.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $59,000 to $118,100.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
