Accountabilities

Conduct continuous assessment of healthcare system data, health budgets, and pharmaceutical trends, keeping senior management and spokespersons informed.Develop and maintain key relationships with policy stakeholders within the health system, ensuring robust and strategic partnerships.Identify institutional constraints and opportunities, implementing strategies to overcome challenges and maximize commercial objectives.Perform horizon scanning for new government affairs challenges and opportunities, aligning strategies with AstraZeneca's portfolio and acquisitions.Serve as an expert resource for Market Access, External Affairs, and cross-functional teams, providing insights into healthcare system dynamics.Map strategies of other pharmaceutical companies within Government, Public Affairs, and External Communications, building networks with peers.Ensure alignment with global Government Affairs and Communications strategies, optimizing local activities.Represent AstraZeneca's interests in relevant areas.Manage institutional sponsorships and partnerships.Develop and update Corporate AstraZeneca position papers and narratives.Oversee Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.Implement and continuously assess AstraZeneca's Reputation strategy.Coordinate and manage the implementation of the External Communications plan in alignment with specific therapeutic area communication plans.

Essential Skills/Experience

University degree with experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industries in similar rolesInterest in political environments and policy development, particularly in the health/pharma sectorStrong interpersonal, communication, and influencing abilitiesRelevant network of stakeholders within the Health System, including but not limited to PAG’s, Medical/Scientific Societies, Professional associations, MPs, and MEPs in our current/future areas of interestAbility to understand the decision-making process and design influence initiativesAbility to influence and impact the company’s image and embody the company’s vision externally (ambassador role)Ability to influence and impact the business assertively, ensuring credibility towards senior management levels in the organization

Desirable Skills/Experience

Knowledge of product pipelines of the companyUnderstanding of specific issues impacting AstraZeneca to effectively represent company interests within international coalitions and organizations
