Government Relations Manager

The Government Relations Manager is a strategic partner and advisor to the QTS Executive Leadership team and works closely with QTS Public Relations, Economic Development, and Pre-Development teams. This role works cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive, impactful outcomes with QTS communities, customers, and our partners in elected office. The Government Relations Manager will report to the Director of Public Policy & Economic Development.

The Ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, a keen intuition, and ability to drive projects to successful conclusion in a dynamic environment. You are a creative, self-starter who can work across multiple silos and projects as both a leader and do-er, supporting the big-picture and QTS mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES, other duties may be assigned.

Serve as a spokesperson for QTS in assigned government relations mattersMonitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the data center industryCultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and policy makersAdvocate for QTS’s interests through strategic engagement with government entitiesEstablish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, industry associations, and advocacy groupsWork closely with the QTS Economic Development team to develop and implement strategies to enhance QTS economic goalsWork closely with the QTS Public Relations team to address and mitigate potential reputational risks through crisis management strategiesRepresent QTS at conferences, forums, and industry eventsTravel (up to 30%) may be required to support QTS interests across state legislative sessions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field (government, political campaigns, public relations)Strong understanding of public policy, state government and legislative processesFive or more years of experience with government affairs, public policy, public affairs, or a related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Political campaign and/or economic development experienceReal estate experience and/or real estate development experienceExperience managing vendors, lobbyists, and internal teams

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Strong communications, time management, and organizational skillsStrategic thinker with ability to align economic goals and overarching business objectives with public policy initiativesAbility to cultivate relationships and negotiate successful outcomesAbility to think outside the box and anticipate industry and political trends
