About the Indiana Archives & Records Administration:
The Indiana Archives and Records Administration assists State and local governments in the cost-effective, efficient, and secure management of governmental records, by providing services throughout the life cycle of records, including creation, use, records inventory and scheduling, storage, and disposition.
Role Overview:
The Indiana Archives and Records Administration is seeking an Electronic Records Archivist Intern to join the Records and Information Management (RIM) division in the summer of 2025. The RIM division oversees records management for all State agencies and all 92 counties. The intern will learn the basics of electronic records archiving, prepare paper records for transfer to the Indiana State Archives, and assist with a modernization project to digitize all retention schedules for State Agencies. The intern will also have opportunities to audit RIM-related meetings about data governance, Artificial Intelligence, County/Local record management task forces, and Control processes for retention schedules.
As the Intern, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience with:
+ The basics of electronic records archiving
+ State and County/Local records management and information governance
+ Current records management projects and challenges facing State and County/Local governments
+ Providing enhanced access to electronic archival records
+ Determining the archival value of records belonging to the Indiana Archives and Records Administration
The internship is located at Indiana Government Center South Building, Room W472, 402 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46206.
Salary:
The hourly wage for this position traditionally starts at $16.24 per hour for current undergraduate students and $17.24 per hour for those with an earned bachelor’s degree.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
+ Identify and execute one major project related to agency needs and academic area of study
+ Create, develop, and sustain the programmatic efforts for the assigned discipline
+ Analyze data and feedback to provide recommendations
+ Partner with other relevant stakeholders to promote and enhance the quality of projects
+ Collaborate with State of Indiana agencies to ensure effective implementation of internal and external initiatives

What You'll Need for Success:
+ Pursuing a degree in liberal arts, social sciences, or humanities
+ Have an interest in records, information, and/or data management
+ Must conduct oneself in a professional manner and be able to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision
+ Ability to lift 40 lbs.
+ Applicants for positions in this class must be currently enrolled students in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited educational institution
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
