About the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA):
OCRA works with local, state, and national partners to provide resources and technical assistance to aid communities in shaping and achieving their vision for community and economic development.
Role Overview:
The Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) is seeking two skilled summer interns to work on projects specific to Indiana Main Street, Community Development Block Grant, Stellar Communities and Communications. The interns will be able to choose from a list of current projects that will complement their unique strengths while also offering opportunities to stretch. The interns will also work to gather key metrics to show the impact of agency programs on communities and assist with other agency needs.
Salary Statement:
The hourly rate for this position is $16.24 for those who do not hold a bachelor’s degree & $17.24 for those who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher by the time the internship starts.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
+ Indiana Main Street – track continuous improvement education opportunities for communities, resource development (surveys/administrative work/content creation/Main Street 101/Executive Director training.
+ Stellar Communities Program – Assist with tracking past projects and future program needs.
+ Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) – Assist in grant administrator training and continuing education development, collaborate with the team on the development of projects related to the grants management system, analyze data, conduct research, and collect feedback from program participants to provide recommendations on possible programmatic improvements and best practices.
+ Communications – Assist with social media posts, and collaborate with staff to implement organization, design, and storytelling improvements on the website.

What You'll Need for Success:
+ Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
+ Academic work in related field
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline
+ Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels
+ Ability to conduct well-informed research
+ Ability to solve complex, critical problems
+ Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
