Govt. IT - Chief Information Officer - Open Until Filled

 

SALARY NEGOTIABLE BASED UPON EXPERIENCE

 

The Chief Information Officer, under the direction of the Sault Tribe Executive Technology Steering Committee, is responsible for providing leadership, designing and leading the organization’s information technology strategy, and supporting the business operations. The CIO will be responsible for aligning technology initiatives with business goals, driving innovation, and ensuring the effective and secure use of information technology across the organization.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following):

 ·         Develop and implement the organization’s overall IT strategy in alignment with the business objective of Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

·         Collaborate with executive leadership to identify opportunities for technological advancement to drive innovation, improve efficiency, and achieve business goals.

·         Provide strategic guidance on emerging and sunsetting technologies and their potential impact on the business.

·         Clearly communicate all technology initiative risks, timelines, requirements and cost/benefit analysis.

·         Ensures that IT and network infrastructure adequately support the company’s computing, data processing, and communications needs.

·         Provide leadership and support to all IT departments including but not limited to staffing recommendations, communicating goals and objectives, and policies and procedures.

·         Continually assess current technology resources and technology within the organization and ensure they are efficient, purposed, and performing in accordance with regulations and policies.

·         Develop protocols and preparedness against cybersecurity threats and lead efforts to enhance the organization’s security posture.

·         Establishes long-term IT needs, plans and develops strategies for developing systems and acquiring software/hardware necessary to meet business needs.

·         Develops and implements the IT budget.

·         Provide guidance for end-users in determining IT requirements and/or solutions.

·         Drive the use of data analytics to inform decision-making and identify business opportunities.

·         Encourage a positive, collaborative, and strategic working relationship between technology teams and all Sault Tribe departments.

 ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following):

 ·         Prepares and delivers presentations to the Executive Technology Steering Committee and the Board of Directors including IT updates, technology needs, and financial projections.

·         Formulates, directs and coordinates activities to promote organization and services and to develop community and vendor relationships.

·         All other job-related duties as assigned.

 CONTACTS:

 Immediate peers, peers in other departments, immediate supervisor/manager, managers in other departments, Executives, Board of Directors, customers and outside vendors/service providers.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position primarily lifts to 20 pounds with frequent lifting/carrying of 10 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of hearing, frequently remaining in stationary position, use of near/midrange/ far vision, depth perception and color and field of vision, frequent typing; and occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of items weighing up to 25 pounds climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, reaching and bending. Working conditions include occasional exposure to weather, extreme heat and cold, wet/humidity, noise, vibration and air quality. Working conditions include contact with the public and as such could be exposed to infectious agents, etc. Potential hazards include constant computer use and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, electric shock, high, exposed places and equipment. Protective equipment/clothing needed to perform the job include hazards kit with protective gloves, mask, etc. and personal protective equipment.

 REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field required.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience overseeing organizational technology strategy, information technology systems, hardware and software platforms, or enterprise software applications required.

Certification/License: Will be required to have a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver’s license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must have strong business and technology background with a broad understanding of operations including finance, accounting, marketing, human resources, purchasing, and general operations. Ability to analyze problems, project consequences, identify solutions, and implement recommendations. Knowledge of organization data and telecommunication hardware and software preferred. Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to plan, prioritize and manage workload to meet goals in a timely manner. Strong motivational and negotiating skills required. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisory personnel, coworkers, subordinates and the general public. Must have excellent public relation/customer service skills and be able to exhibit friendly and positive attitude and establish and maintain effective communication with co- workers, supervisors and guests. Must have a broad range of knowledge in systems, telecommunications, software and a variety of business process and systems. Must be able to handle difficult situations and be able to resolve customer complaints. Position required being on-call at all times. Must be able to work independently with no direct supervision. Must be able to work in a high stress environment. Must maintain privacy and confidentiality. Native American preferred.
