POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data and Applications Administrator, under the direction of the Data and Applications Manager, is responsible for the day-to-day oversight, planning, maintenance, support and operations of the large portfolio of enterprise applications and associated data used across the Tribe’s government, gaming & hospitality, health and enterprise divisions. Supports and leads application and data strategy and initiatives towards digital transformation, electronic workflow creation, cloud integration, Artificial Intelligence initiatives and system interfaces and integrations. Works closely with IT data resources and the executive leadership across the Tribe and enterprises to make data more available and actionable for leadership and to support a more data driven organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
Application & Data Support:
Provide comprehensive technical support and administration for enterprise applications and back-office ERP systems utilized across various Tribal organizational divisions (Government & Membership Services, Gaming & Hospitality, Health Care, and Enterprises). Manage and support Tribal government service enterprise applications and associated data, ensuring their functionality, security, and integrity. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to enterprise applications and data access.\ Work closely with Data & Applications team to support data access, data integration and data normalization and cleansing, data classification and governance, ETL processes and data transformation. Provide data and application assistance and support in creating and maintaining automated workflows. Create and maintain database solutions and interfaces between systems and applications. Support legacy database solutions used across the organization, and where possible look to update these solutions to newer technology or off-the-shelf solutions Configure, maintain, and optimize application performance and user experience.Strategic Initiatives & Innovation:
Conduct research and analysis to identify and recommend new or updated software solutions that align with the Tribe's strategic goals and improve operational efficiency. Champion and lead the integration of data-driven decision making within the organization by promoting the use of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, cloud integration and transformation, and exploring the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) enabled solutions. Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to develop and implement IT strategies that support the Tribe's digital transformation initiatives.Project Management & Collaboration:
Adhere to established organizational project management and change management methodologies to ensure smooth implementation and user adoption of IT initiatives. Work collaboratively with all IT teams (Database Administrators, Application Specialists, Project Managers, Data Governance Administrator, System Analysts, and BI Analysts) to achieve efficient and well-coordinated IT operations. Participate in cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between IT initiatives and business objectives.Knowledge Management & Continuous Learning:
Maintain a strong understanding of industry best practices in data management, application administration, and emerging technologies. Document procedures and processes related to applications and data management for knowledge transfer and organizational continuity. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position heavy with lifting of 100 pounds maximum and frequent lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of color vision, typing; frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, use of hearing, driving, bending; occasional pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, manual handling, use of smell, near/midrange/far vision and field of vision. Working conditions include occasional exposure to weather, wet/humidity, noise and air quality. Potential hazards include constant computer use and occasional exposure to electric shock, high exposed places, chemicals and equipment. The IT Department is a 24/7 operation; working nights, weekends, holidays and on-call should be expected if scheduled to work.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems Management or five years demonstrated ability in relevant work experience in data and application administration support environment may be substituted for education.
Experience: No additional experience required.
Certification/License: Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver’s license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must undergo a Criminal background investigation done under the rules of the National Indian Gaming Commission. Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.
Knowledge:
Enterprise Applications and ERP Systems: In-depth knowledge of enterprise applications and back-office ERP systems commonly used in large organizations, experience with specific systems used by the Tribe (e.g., Government & Membership Services, Gaming & Hospitality, Health Care) is preferred. Data Management: Solid understanding of data management principles, including data security, integrity and governance required. Emerging Technology: Working knowledge of emerging technologies like cloud computing, Business Intelligence (BI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) needed. Project Management and Change Management: Familiarity with established project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and change management processes. IT Security: Understanding of IT security best practices to ensure data and system protection.Skills:
Technical Support: Provide ability to provide technical support for enterprise applications and data access issues. Application Administration: Skilled in application configuration, user management and performance optimization are needed. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues needed. Research and Analysis: Ability to conduct thorough research, analyze data, and make informed recommendations for software selection. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
