The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies is embarking on a groundbreaking project, "Illuminating Nuclear Narratives," and we are seeking enthusiastic Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs) to be at the forefront of this innovative venture.
This position is compensated at the Level B rate on the MIIS student wage scale. $17.00 - $17.50 per hour
About the Project:
We've secured funding to produce a powerful, AI-assisted documentary video on a critical nuclear-related issue. This isn't just about filmmaking; it's about defining the future of storytelling. You'll gain hands-on experience with the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools across the entire documentary production pipeline – from generating visuals and animations to AI-driven translation, dubbing, and even avatar utilization. The finished film will serve as a proof-of-concept, amplifying crucial global narratives and positioning Middlebury as a leader in digital innovation.

As a Graduate Research Assistant, you will:
Receive hands-on, expert-led training in cutting-edge AI tools for video, sound, and visual design. Contribute to the research and story development of a high-impact documentary. Experiment with and apply AI technologies for asset creation, animation, multilingual narration, and soundtrack generation. Assist with video editing and post-production processes. Collaborate closely with the Project Lead and fellow GRAs, forming a dynamic and innovative team. Help document project outcomes and best practices, contributing to sustainable institutional knowledge.
