Pennoni is seeking a Graduate Bridge Engineer with a strong interest in bridge design for our Transportation Division at their Pittsburgh, PA office. Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Assisting in various bridge design related tasks, aiding in bridge replacement/rehabilitation projects, bridge inspection, and load rating analysis of existing structures.
The successful candidate shall have prior knowledge or ability to learn AASHTO LRFD bridge design codes and client specific codes such as PennDOT, PA Turnpike, and WVDOT.
In addition, the candidate shall have a sound understanding of undergraduate level structural concepts (beam analysis and steel/concrete design).
Required Attributes:
Well organized with strong verbal and written communication skills. Desire to learn various design codes (AASHTO/PennDOT/PA Turnpike design standards) and design programs including, but not limited to, PennDOT LRFD programs (STLRFD, PSLRFD, ABLRFD, etc.), CSiBridge, LEAP Bridge products,VBent, and Microstation. Willingness to attain bridge inspection certification. EIT or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire Entry level position - 0-3 years experience.Preferred Attributes:
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Previous internship/co-op experience within transportation engineering performing bridge, culvert, and/or retaining wall design tasks a plus. Experience with quantity calculations/cost estimates and ability to read construction plans.Why Pennoni?
