Engineers within Engineering Services are focused on providing secure, efficient and high quality build, test and deploy practices at scale, helping to improve productivity among our 700+ strong engineering workforce.
As a Graduate DevOps Engineer in the Engineering Services team, you will be responsible for improving the development experience of our engineers by providing and enhancing new and existing tools and integrations with a keen focus on observability and reliability.
Some of the awesome things you’ll be involved with:Support the transformation and modernisation of development practices across Iress, helping our team to identify, trial and / or build new-to-Iress tooling that can help solve problems experienced by our engineers.
Improve the reliability, observability and operational aspects of the tools and platforms owned by our team.
Provide support for the platforms and integrations we own. Takes initiative in troubleshooting even if they are not the 'primary' engineer and resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Advocate for tools, processes, and for the concerns of our Engineers, ensuring we understand each team's needs and are able to prioritise them appropriately.
Educate others by writing and maintaining blog posts and tutorials, demonstrating integrations, and hosting showcases.
Foster and grow strong working relationships with the wider technology group. Mentor/coach more junior engineers, and take feedback or seek guidance from our engineers to create better outcomes.
Proactively seek feedback from others to make informed contributions to team discussions on the teams' roadmap, architecture, and strategy.
Ensure software security is appropriate and remediates eciently if inadequacies arise.
Contribute positively to the team, providing relevant and appropriate input to enable effective team outcomes to be delivered.
Effectively manages own work, whether assigned or taken. Ensures dependencies, issues or risks on other teams are known and owns remediation of such.
Ensure any key person risk is minimised by working with others, appropriately documenting and automating work.
What you will bring:

Excellent communication skills with the ability to traverse business and technical domains in a clear, concise and engaging way

Python programming language experience, and either Bash or PowerShell scripting
Familiarity with AWS and using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform + HCL) for deployments / upgrades
Basic knowledge of Observability platforms and their purpose
