Do you have a passion for space? While others may be putting people in space, we are putting people on the Moon and Mars and beyond.

Job Description

The Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team is a high performing group executing challenging tasks to design and integrate GN&C systems for projects ranging from CubeSats to NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS).  We are looking for undergraduate or graduate student summer interns with academic or work experience in controls, 6 DOF modeling, simulation, and tool development  This position will support the SLS to ensure that the rocket flies correctly with adequate stability margins.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following\:

Develop, modify, and maintain software simulations, tools, and scripts
Create, edit, and debug software written in Matlab, Simulink, and/or C/C
Model, simulate, and analyze launch vehicle and/or spacecraft dynamics and performance
Analyze systems in the time and frequency domain
Work with GN&C leads and other engineering disciplines
Support verification and validation of technical products
Prepare and present technical reports and/or briefings
Create and review engineering and software documentation

Expectations included in the ASED Internship\:

You are expected to have a valid driver's license, have access to an automobile, and be able to drive yourself to work locations. In addition, as of May 7, a Star drivers license is required for access on base. You will be expected to attend MSFC facility scheduled tours, Technical Fellow talks, luncheons, and training sessions in addition to your work. We highly encourage you to participate in activities outside of work with your fellow interns. These activities will be scheduled, with your input, by your social coordinators and will be beneficial in forming a cohesive group and lasting friendships.  *
