Graduate Industrial Hygienist

We are hiring for a Graduate Industrial Hygienist to join our team on a full-time, direct basis and contribute to our EHS (Environmental, Health, & Safety) operations in the Boston, MA area.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Contribute to industrial hygiene (IH) projects associated with asbestos, lead-based paint (LBP), mold, and/or indoor air quality (IAQ). Perform asbestos abatement oversight, environmental building surveys, Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I & Phase II), and write reports accordingly. Monitor air contaminants using real-time monitoring instruments (such as photoionization detectors, combustible gas indicators, toxic gas monitors, etc.). Collect air samples for various contaminants using personal air sampling pumps, passive monitoring badges, SUMMA canisters, and other techniques. Collect other environmental samples (such as soil, drinking water, groundwater, surface water, etc.). Prepare reports including observations, analysis of contaminants, and recommendations for control & correction of hazards. Utilize appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), including respiration protection devices. Work occasional evening and weekend shifts (as needed). Anticipated travel is approximately 25% (primarily within the New England region). Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

 

Basic Requirements:

High School Diploma (or equivalent).

 

This person will be expected to work regularly in the field, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver’s License as well as Reliable Transportation.

 

This person will also be expected to pass a basic Physical Examination as part of their employment in this capacity.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s degree (or higher) in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, EHS, Safety Management, or a related field (recent graduates are encouraged to apply!). Bachelor’s degree is a plus! Accredited Asbestos Inspector and/or Asbestos Project Monitor credential(s) in MA (via Mass DLS LAA). EPA Lead Inspection / Risk Assessor certifications. Exposure to working with EHS and/or OHS-related tasks (preferably with Industrial Hygiene and/or Environmental Remediation). Knowledge of OSHA regulations, especially with air sampling methodologies. Experience working in construction. Experience working in Heavy Industrial environment(s). Proficiency with basic computer systems and software; this person will be expected to use MS-Office (e.g.: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Proven ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues. Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment while demonstrating strong character and dependability. Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in an energetic and challenging work environment on a variety of projects; this person will be expected to demonstrate a self-motivated demeanor while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments. Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
