Graduate Intern - Aviation Facilities & Infrastructure Architectural Design
**Some of what you'll be doing:** There are two (2) available positions for this opportunity, one summer internship, and one full year internship. These positions will work directly with the Facilities and Infrastructure (F&I) Architecture team to support the architectural review of a multi-billion dollar capital development at SEA and valuable insight into the details of aviation architecture. This position provides a unique opportunity to understand the “owner’s” perspective including exposure to current projects in all phases of design and construction and the nationally recognized architecture firms working at SEA. The F&I Architecture team is involved in all types of design including signage, accessibility, and BIM. Tasks may include updating Architecture Guidelines and Standards, documenting current architectural conditions, materials or precedent research, supporting award-winning Accessibility Program, and supporting Asset Management and Signage program. These positions will be working with licensed architects and the time is eligible for NCARB AxP credits. Some of your essential duties include: + Support Architecture Guidelines and Standards updates including research, cross reference other standards or specifications, graphic design, photography, and documenting existing conditions. + Attend project meetings, job site walks, Architecture Design review meetings, and assist with internal design discussions and meeting minutes. + Assisting with Accessibility Facility Audits and attend SEA Accessibility Advisory Committee Meetings. + Research record documents such as plans, specifications, submittals, and technical reports to verify existing infrastructure locations. + Support and manage architecture library development including research, catalog new materials, and organize vendor meetings and continuing education events. + Support development of Architecture SharePoint site. + Support Asset Management asset verification with research, site walks, data/photo collection, and data entry. + Support SEA BIM program. **Who you are:** + **A student** – You must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program or a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) of a graduate degree program related to Architecture. + **Committed to Equity** – You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. You’re adept to listen well, ask questions, follow directions, and work independently for multiple hours at a time. + **A communicator** – You possess strong analytical, organizational, time management skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. + **Desired** – We hope you have previous experience in an architecture firm or public agency. Exposure to design and/or construction process. **What else you need to know:** + **Work Schedule** – This is a full-time (40 hours per week) internship position in the summer. One of the two positions be extended to part-time hours during the school year. Normal work hours will be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. + **Work Environment** – You will primarily work in an office environment. Some telework may be available with manager approval. + **Limited Duration** – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than one year. + **Safety Requirements** – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. + **Security Requirements** – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. + **Washington State Residency Requirement** – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle.
