OverviewPavilion 6, an Intermediate surgical and medical surgical unit with 30 single rooms, is deeply committed to providing exceptional patient care. Our surgical services include surgical oncology, urology, bariatrics, and thoracic and colorectal surgery. Our leadership structure, comprised of a clinical director, an assistant clinical director, clinical nurse managers, and a clinical educator, is dedicated to supporting our staff and patient safety.
Pavilion 6 is supported by our unit secretaries, critical care technicians and registered nurses seven days a week. We work towards having all of our nurses’ cross-trained in surgical intermediate within the first year at Cooper. Pavilion-6 fosters a close relationship with our providers, as our APN’s and Surgical Residents are easily accessible for support, questions, and directions with patient care. They have offices right here on the unit, along with our leadership team and our transitional care team.
Short DescriptionThe Graduate Nurse (GN) is a professional caregiver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.
The GN holds a temporary emergency RN license and shall be eligible to work only under supervision in an acute care facility licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health. Such supervision may be in the form of a preceptor relationship.
Additional Responsibilities:
Follows established policies and procedures.Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.Applies Cooper core values.Other duties as required.The following tasks will not be performed by the GN:
• Procedures not signed off by the RN preceptor or Clinical Educator that requires competency.
• Direct or supervise other healthcare staff.
• Make assignments for other staff.
Experience Required The Graduate Nurse will have successfully completed his/her nursing school.
