We are looking for people with a strong STEM background and a keen interest in supporting the safe operations of a nuclear fuels manufacturing facility. Powering up Lancashire’s energy offer, Westinghouse’s Springfields site has been manufacturing world-class nuclear fuel, and related products, for almost 80 years and plays a vital role in decarbonising the UK’s energy grid.

The 80-hectare site is one of the most advanced nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities in the world, with its Oxide Fuels Complex being the UK’s only nuclear fuel fabrication facility, manufacturing Advanced Gas Reactor (AGR) and Pressure Water Reactor (PWR) fuels.

 

The Safety Assessment Engineer - Graduate Development Programme will give successful candidates experience of roles across a range of disciplines within nuclear fuel manufacture from engineering and manufacturing to safety and environmental management. This ensures Graduates on this programme receive a diverse experience across site and will help Graduates reach their full potential as a skilled nuclear safety professionals.

Safety Assessment Engineering underpins safe site operations and the development of new products and processes, focusing on fields like radiation, environmental and chemical safety. In addition, successful candidates may be offered company sponsored training such as a Masters degree whilst on the development programme.
