**Responsibilities**
The Graduate Research Appointment (GRA) is a post-baccalaureate appointment for participants with an interest in biomedical research.
Are you interested in working as part of a collaborative team to understand the hidden complexities of protein-drug interactions and mechanisms of cancer treatments using a combination of structural biology techniques and biochemical, cellular, and pre-clinical models? This role is ideal for someone with a passion for learning new techniques and developing new tools to advance our scientific knowledge and develop the next generation of precision medicines. The primary purpose is to provide a post-baccalaureate laboratory research experience that applies skills in science, technology, engineering, or math to biomedical research including basic science or translational research. GRA participants will have the opportunity to participate in selected graduate classes and seminars while working in this role.
The lab of Dr. Matthew Schellenberg in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology seeks to fill a position for a Post-Baccalaureate Fellow that will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that aims to develop new drugs for treatment of human disease. The candidate will contribute to the investigation and development of new therapeutics using approaches spanning molecular modelling, structural biology, biochemistry, and cell biology. Applications are strongly encouraged from individuals who may not meet all requirements, but who have experience or an interest in learning protein structure determination using X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM and defining molecular mechanisms using biochemical and/or cell-based assays. The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive team which prioritizes open science team member development and utilizes the power of collaboration and team science to generate scientific discoveries that lead to improved human health outcomes in the rich scientific environment at the Mayo Clinic.
**Qualifications**
Bachelor’s degree with a strong background in science, technology, engineering, or math. Authorization to work and remain in the United States, without necessity for Mayo Clinic sponsorship now, or in the future (for example, be a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident, refugee or asylee. Students that do not meet these criteria do not qualify.

M-F 8 hour shift between 7am and 6pm as deemed appropriate between candidate and PI. One year limited term with possible additional year extension.
