Job Description

Purpose of Role

Ultra Maritime UK has a strong portfolio of in-service products and new development projects focused on the provision of world class sonar systems for anti-submarine warfare.  These products make use of advanced signal processing, complex graphical Human Computer Interfaces and software\hardware interfacing.

As a result, we have immediate and ongoing requirements for Graduate Developers with C++ skills and an aptitude for working on technically challenging software. The applicant will ideally have integrated or translated mathematical algorithms into code in a previous role or have similar experience. Alternatively, applicants that are familiar with translation and decoding of data streams are also of interest.

In this role you will be working with teams of software developers, mathematicians and physicists designing, implementing and testing sonar system solutions.

The role provides opportunities to experience technical leadership responsibilities and is therefore an could be a first step to engineering management for candidates with those aspirations. Alternatively, or additionally the role provides opportunities to specialize in the technical aspects of our sonar products enabling candidates to progress towards domain expertise in our exciting and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Software development in C++

Working with team members to understand software design and assigned scope

Progression of assigned stories and tasks in a product backlog as part of an Agile team

Software Integration, test, defect analysis and resolution

Periodic verbal reporting of progress and contributing to sprint planning

Skills, Qualification and Experience

Experience in C++ development, ideally in a multithreaded environment

Experience in designing software in a team environment with some experience of UML design

Some knowledge of DevOps technologies would be an advantage

Knowledge of Java development would be an advantage

Knowledge of Python would be an advantage

Good degree in a STEM subject with some experience of software development either as part of post graduate work or industrial experience.

Capable of UK SC clearance
