Grain Receiver Lead
Business Unit Overview 8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm. Responsibilities Position Summary: Our Grain Receiver Lead role functions as a working lead in our Milling Department. This role is primarily responsible for loading and unloading truck and rail shipments, operating our Grain Management System, and partnering with railway partners to ensure safe and efficient loading and offloading of raw materials. Additionally, in partnership with the Assistant Head Miller and Mill Manager, this role ensures the safety and efficiency of the Grain Receiver/Loaders in the loading/unloading of railcar and truck shipments by guiding employees on procedures and policies in the areas of quality, safety and sanitation. Duties and Responsibilities: Load and unload truck and rail car shipments to meet Mill production demands Operate Grain Management System for inbound/outbound Loads Coordinate grain receiving and daily wheat mixes with Mill Manager and Lead Mill Operator also coordinating inbound/outbound shipments with Mill Procurement Clerk In partnership with Mill Manager, provide safety training for Grain Receiver / Loaders, including conducting monthly crew meetings to provide communications to team Communicates with railroad on release, movements, and constructive placement of rail cars Provide guidance to Grain Receiver Loaders to ensure team is working within policies and procedures for safety and food safety, including oversight for Master Sanitation Schedule for assigned areas of responsibility Manage inbound grain credits to minimize demurrage on pellet cars Handle and apply pesticides/fumigants according to State and Federal regulations while maintaining accurate records of fumigant testing, fumigant use and inventory Empty, clean, and sanitize interior of storage silos and temper bins Partner with company leadership to proactively identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities in the areas of: safety, food safety, quality, productivity, and sanitation Other duties, as assigned Education and Experience Required: Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in Grain Elevator Must be able to acquire and maintain fumigation license within required timeframes Must be able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills: Strong leadership skills to promote safety, sanitation, and quality Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated organizations skills Ability to deal with multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
