Job Title: Grant Accountant
Department: Finance/Accounting
Reports To: Accounting Manager or Controller
Location: Allentown PA
Job Summary:
The Grant Accountant is responsible for the financial administration, compliance, and management of grants and other restricted funds. This role includes preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring grant compliance, monitoring budgets, and working closely with program staff to achieve organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of grant regulations and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Grant Accounting & Financial Management:
+ Maintain accurate financial records related to grants, including expenses, invoices, and funding schedules (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).
+ Ensure financial transactions comply with grant requirements and organizational policies.
+ Reconcile grant-related accounts and manage allocation of grant funds to appropriate programs (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).
+ Grant Compliance & Reporting:
+ Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for grantors in accordance with specified requirements.
+ Monitor financial performance of grant-funded projects to ensure expenditures align with budgets and grant restrictions (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).
+ Stay up-to-date on relevant regulations, such as OMB Uniform Guidance, and ensure compliance with federal, state, or private grant guidelines.
+ Budgeting & Forecasting:
+ Assist in the preparation of grant budgets during proposal development in collaboration with program departments.
+ Track, monitor, and analyze grant spending to avoid overspending or underutilization of funds (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).
+ Support financial planning by providing projections on grant revenue and expenditures.
+ Audit Support:
+ Maintain documentation and support internal or external audits of grant-funded programs.
+ Resolve questions or concerns raised during grant audits by providing clear and accurate account details.
+ Collaboration and Communication:
+ Work closely with program staff to understand grant program requirements and provide financial expertise.
+ Serve as a liaison between the organization and grantors on financial matters.
+ Promote transparency by explaining financial information and grant-related processes.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education and Certifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
Experience:
+ Proven experience in accounting, including grant accounting or nonprofit financial management.
+ Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and advanced Excel skills (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).
Skills:
+ Knowledge of federal and state grant regulations, such as OMB Uniform Guidance.
+ Proficiency in financial reporting, compliance, and budgeting.
+ Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
+ Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Knowledge and Expertise:
+ Experience in managing grants for industries like healthcare, nonprofit, or education (Source: SG25 US Finance and Accounting.doc).
+ Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies, including AI applications for financial reporting and analysis.
