The GCO II will be a part of the Pediatric Research Enterprise Pre-Award Office team. The GCO II assists Principal Investigators within the Department of Pediatrics by performing administrative and technical functions associated with grants and contracts from external funding sources. The Pre-Award GCO II will provide professional guidance to Principal Investigators through the Pre-Award process, including funding opportunity eligibility, proposal preparation, budget development, submission, post-submission actions, and transition to post-award. Proficient with all the duties and responsibilities of a Grant/Contract Officer I. 2. Administers Pre-award activities related to sponsored projects to maximize funding opportunities and limit financial deviations. 3. Works closely with Department of Pediatrics Faculty and Project Teams as well as the other Pre-Award Office Team members to implement the pre-award grant application processes, including regulation and compliance analysis, subcontract processing, proposal coordination, and criteria development and review. 4. Works closely with Division-specific Pediatrics Post-Award Financial Management teams to ensure that funded grants and contracts transition effectively from Pre- to Post-Award. Provides compliance-related guidance to the Post-Award Financial Teams and Project Teams through the lifetime of the award or contract. 5. Ensures proper internal and external documentation is maintained, organized, and accessible for all projects. 6. Serves as a liaison between the Investigator and Research Administration entities throughout the University, including the Office of the Vice President for Research, Office of Sponsored Projects, Clinical Trials Office, Institutional Review Board, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Technology & Venture Commercialization, etc. 7. Serves as a liaison to sponsors. 8. Maintains current knowledge of expanding and changing federal, state, and University laws and requirements governing externally funded grants and contracts. 9. Independently completes proposals for a variety of sponsors. Completes award administration for activities including award set-up, modification, and maintenance. 10. Ensures federal compliance by reviewing procedures/policies. 11. Asks questions/provides answers demonstrating greater depth of knowledge of University and sponsor requirements. 12. Leading in collaborative work with other teams in the unit or on special projects with minimal manager support. 13. Utilizes prior experiences to identify issues and offer guidance to others. 14.
