Job Summary
Responsibilities
Manages team science initiatives that involve the University of Chicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Physical Sciences Division, CZ Biohub Chicago partners, and additional external stakeholders.Contributes to the writing and development of funding plans and multi-investigator grant proposals, and engages with federal, non-profit, philanthropic, and corporate sources.Ensures compliance with requirements of funding sources, such as submitting program plans, providing progress reports, and final reports, etc.Manages the Immunoengineering Postdoctoral Training (ImEPosT) T32 Program, ensuring the program runs on budget and that all postdoctoral fellows complete training objectives in a timely fashion.Organizes and implements immunoengineering-oriented programming as components of larger PME-led initiatives, including alumni/industry days, recruitment days for PhD and MS students, and fundraising events.Organizes and implements Immunoengineering-oriented programming for faculty and trainees Works-in-Progress Seminars, Grant Writing Workshops, Fundraising activities, Alumni/Industry Workshops.Partners with faculty to identify appropriate federal and private grant opportunities, develops competitive proposals, and develops and maintains detailed knowledge of faculty research interests and strengths. Serves as liaison between principal investigators, University administrative offices, and external agencies. Develops grant writing training programs and creates tools and templates to support successful proposal development. Develops agency specific workshops in accordance with each grant-making organization's preferences and exactly follows each grant-making organization's guidelines.Implements consistent, standardized grants management processes for administrative proposal review and sign off, data compilation, reporting checklists, etc. Develops, implements, and manages well-written, high-impact and tailored grant proposals, applications, progress reports, draft budgets, and other collateral materials as needed, that compellingly convey mission and direction prior to submitting to the University Research Administration.Monitors compliance with University, Divisional, and Department policies and procedures and implements corrective actions for issues identified.Maintains a directory of grant document templates that can be readily available during grant submissions, for instance Current and Pending, Bios, Facilities, and other related documents.Provides market analysis on different funding areas that fit within PME’s research mission. Analyzes industry trends and remains current with agency and regulatory changes.Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.Manages program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.Has a deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.Performs other related work as needed.
