Grant Funded-Advanced Practice Provider

Position purpose: 
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (registered and licensed nurse practitioner or physician assistant) to join our mobile medical unit on a part time basis year round. The provider is expected to deliver harm reduction services, wound care, and comprehensive medical and mental health care to unhoused and transitional living populations as part of an interprofessional team. In this role, the provider will work collaboratively with healthcare faculty, students, and community partners to help address the diverse healthcare needs of underserved populations and help connect them with needed resources. Experience treating and working with patients who actively have or have a history of substance use disorder and/or experience working with underserved populations is preferred. 

Essential Functions:  
1. Provide high-quality medical and mental health assessments, consistent with training and current acceptable practice and protocols, including diagnoses and treatment for patients in a mobile setting.  

2. Perform basic procedures such as wound management, dressing changes, administering vaccines, phlebotomy, and CLIA-waived tests such as blood glucose, urinalysis, TB skin tests, etc.  

3. Collaborate with faculty to supervise students to enhance clinical education and provide hands-on learning experiences for students assisting the vulnerable through a harm reduction mobile unit. 

4. Respond to emergency situations, both of which include mental health and physical issues, such as crisis intervention.

5.  Engage with community partners to decrease barriers to care for patients and maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation.
