Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Manages the full-cycle process for proposals, including drafting and reviewing content, assessing disclosures, preparing budgets, ensuring timely submissions and handling related follow-up requests.
Crafts high-quality grant proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents, including compelling content and project planning details, consistent with grantor/request for proposal (RFP) requirements and YAI branding.
Collects necessary information and data to support grant proposals by identifying appropriate YAI Network staff, including other support departments and programs, and collaborating to successfully complete applications.
Develops proposal timelines and oversees deadlines for multiple proposals, performing regular follow-ups to monitor the status of submitted proposals.
Regularly identifies public and private funding opportunities that align with the organization’s goals and mission by researching databases and websites.
Serves as liaison between programs and Advancement department, ensuring that requests for funding are consistent with YAI’s policies, priorities and areas of need.
Collaborates with the Finance team to gather budget information, ensuring that funds are allocated and spent within grant guidelines.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)
Bachelor’s degree; and
Three (3) years of experience in a fundraising, government relations or communications department including direct experience with managing, writing, researching and/or submitting grants; or
A satisfactory combination of education, experience and/or training.
Must be a well-organized and motivated strategic thinker, with superior attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Exceptional written communication skills and ability to create compelling narratives for grant applications.
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and oral communication skills, including the ability to engage, build relationships and work collaboratively with others.
Some familiarity with Salesforce database management and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Outlook and ability to learn other electronic systems, when applicable.
Strong commitment and passion for the organization’s mission including an interest in understanding programs and services as they evolve to meet the needs of children and adults with disabilities.
Ability to report on-site to our Manhattan office multiple days per week and to occasionally travel to program sites.
Preferred Qualification Requirements (desired requirements beyond MQRs above)
Five (5) or more years direct experience with grant writing, management, etc.
Experience completing public Request for Proposals (RFPs) and private foundation applications.
Salary: 80,000K
