Grants and Contracts Assistant Director

This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences.
LRDC is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Grants and Contracts Assistant Director (Pre- and Post-Award). Position will oversee pre- and post-award grants and contracts functions, including identifying potential funding sources and relevant grant opportunities, proposal development, managing authorization and submission of proposals to funders, ensuring faculty compliance related to research as well as University policies and procedures, developing timelines for key tasks, milestones, and deadlines, reporting to leadership on PI activities and funding, and making recommendations to policies and procedures to guide the process of grant and contract application and management within the department. Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of research administration experience - relevant experience in lieu of education may be considered.
• Professional certification related to Research Administration strongly preferred.
• Previous university grants administration experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to grants and contracts.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in budget management and financial reporting.
• Capable of working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.

This position is currently hybrid, with two days minimum in the office expected.

Oversees pre- and post-award operations for University grants and contracts and assists in establishing the direction and implementation strategy of the department and/or program. Supports the development of standard policies and operating procedures and monitors the annual budget. Oversees the review, authorization, submission, and negotiation of proposals. Manages reporting, organizational structures, and project management operations.

Essential functions include oversight of both pre- and post-award functions within a research unit: identifying funding opportunities, proposal development, grant submission, award setup, progress and finalization reporting.
