This Proposal Opportunity: 

The USAID/Mozambique Renda Verde Activity is a 5-year activity that seeks to boost communities in leveraging the benefits of living in nature across key biodiversity conservation areas and to benefit local people through sharing of nature-based revenue. It will build tangible incentives for living with nature, seeking to catalyze the market and community benefits of human coexistence with wildlife in harmony across conservation areas, buffer zones, and key biodiversity corridors. The project aims to generate sustainable revenue streams from biodiversity conservation by combining market-driven strategies, nature-based solutions, and fostering economic growth. 

Palladium is seeking a Grants Manager for the upcoming Renda Verde Activity. The Grants Manager serves as a liaison between the project technical team and grantees. They are responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and managing grant proposals, reports and milestones in line with overall project goals and in compliance with the project’s grants manual. The Grants Manager serves as the primary grant writer, manages relationships, engages in compliance reporting, and supports project’s grant initiatives. This position requires strong writing, data analysis, program budgeting, project management skills, with an emphasis on outcome measurement. The Grants Manager will lead efforts to identify grant recipients and manage grants portfolios, in accordance with Palladium’s and USAID’s policies and procedures.  

*This is an anticipated project, and all positions are contingent upon award from USAID. *    

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

Conducts grants solicitation and advertisements; designs and prepares grant review guidelines for evaluators, including scoring formats; convenes grant committee meetings, leads negotiations with applicants; prepares grant packages to USAID; awards and executes. 
Oversees overall grants administration, compliance and implementation procedures, and ensures compliance with USAID and Palladium grants and procurement regulations. 
Prepares grant budgets, forecasts, and monitors grant expenditures. 
Drafts and periodically revises the grants manual and related program documents. 
Prepares due diligence reports on all awardees. 
Develops and implements a grant tracking system to ensure the timely and correct execution of all grant agreements. 
Conducts training for all grantees and sub awardees on reporting processes and compliance use of grants. 
Routinely communicates with grantees on grant implementation progress, prepares grant modifications and writes modification justifications. 
Ensure grantees receive technical oversight and support as needed with support from the technical team. 
Prepares/reviews grant payment requests. 
Collaborates with technical and M&E teams as required. 

Key Competencies Required:

Master's degree in business, finance, economics, or any other relevant field. Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years of experience in business, finance, accounting, or any other relevant field can be substituted for an advanced degree. 
Minimum of seven years of experience managing grants for donor organizations. Experience with USAID grants management system highly preferred. 
Extensive accounting and budgeting experience required. 
Knowledge of and experience with USAID’s grant rules, regulations, and standards preferred. 
Experience managing multiple stakeholder relationships required. 
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to manage budgets and client expectations. 
Excellent project management and strong writing skills both in Portuguese and English required.
