They are responsible for the identification of potential grant projects, the development and oversight of processes and procedures that allow for timely review of potential grants to pursue, and the writing and submission of grant applications. The Specialist ensures compliance with external rules and regulations and provides training and technical assistance to project managers and teams when needed. The Grants Specialist is responsible for coordinating the College’s grant functions, including assisting with the development, implementation and application of policies, procedures, and programs. This also includes researching grant opportunities; leading the strategic review of funding opportunities to determine application potential; preparation, writing and timely submission of grant applications and reports; development and adjustment of associated budgets and coordination of budgeted funds; and working with the associated grant participants to ensure timely application for reimbursement from funders. The Specialist will also provide information and training about grants processes, potential funders, and compliance issues to the college community. **Minimum Qualifications** + A combination of education and work experience to equal a minimum of three years of business or nonprofit experience. (Associate Degree equals 6 months experience, Bachelor’s degree equals 1 year experience, Master’s equals 1.5 years experience) + Experience writing grants, proposals, or technical documents. + Demonstrated project management skills with experience managing multiple, simultaneous priorities in a deadline-driven environment. + Fiscal management and accounting skills, including contract administration, developing and monitoring budgets, and financial reporting. + Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs and web-based grant or applications systems; for example, SAM, Grants.gov, G5, etc. + Proficiency in written and oral communications, including public speaking. + Commitment to diversity as well as a demonstrated ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds. **Preferred Qualification** + Master's degree and/or seven years of combined business or non-profit experience. + Five years + of experience managing a grant portfolio, including management of multi-million dollar grant budgets and experience working with a broad spectrum of grant types and agencies. + Knowledge of academic processes including program coordination, instructional strategies, course delivery, and assessment. + Experience developing and managing grant evaluation plans, including formative and summative assessments, logic models, etc. + Experience managing federal grants and post-award compliance, including but not limited to, U.S. Department of Labor, National Science Foundation, and Department of Education grants. **Other Requirements** Please complete the online application and upload these documents: + Cover Letter + Resume **Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)** Monday - Friday **Telework (Yes/No)** Hybrid Available **About** Founded in 1972, Hennepin Technical College is the largest technical college in Minnesota.
