Summary This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Programs (N922) Branch; Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) Recreational Fleet and Family Readiness Support Services (N94); Commander, Navy Region Hawaii, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH) , Honolulu, HI. The purpose of this position is to provide customer service to patrons as well as ensure day-to-day operations of Arts and Crafts Store Engraving Shop proceed as planned. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Lays out design and programs computer driven rotary/laser engraving equipment to engrave a variety of materials to include wood, acrylic, glass, bottles, and plastics, etc. Operates heat presses, saws and other computer related equipment such as scanners. Provides information and assistance to customers requesting engraved products. Recommends materials, design and layout, takes orders, and completes projects. Trains and monitors lower graded employees. May be required to custom make products according to patron specifications. Performs routine maintenance to equipment. Ensures adequate stock of supplies is available to meet operational needs. Keeps abreast of industry trends and makes recommendations for new products and processes to incorporate into the operations as well as deleting slow moving items. Operates a cash register and performs cash closing procedures. Assists picture framers with shop duties and maintenance as required. Performs other duties as assigned. Works under the supervision of the Frame Shop Supervisor. A qualified candidate possess the following: Must have experience, which provides knowledge of Corel Draw 11 computer program to operate laser-engraving equipment along with sublimation and traditional metal engraving equipment. Must have ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Must possess skills in dealing with the public. Must be able to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Education This position does not have a positive education requirement.
