Graphics Production Specialist

The Print Production & Design Specialist is part of the St. Peter’s Health Public Relations & Marketing team, but is solely responsible for running the organization’s internal print shop and Graphics Department. This position supports system-wide operational and clinical needs, and is primarily responsible for the design, print production and delivery of patient information and literature, signage/wayfinding and medical forms. This position ensures alignment with brand standards and appropriate use of branded logo assets in all produced materials. This position manages various vendor relationships and oversees the outsourcing of all printed materials or other graphic products that cannot be produced in-house or are more cost-efficient to outsource. This position also maintains and distributes inventory of paper stock, branded letterhead and stationary items, toner, business cards and other print supplies and materials used by departments and facilities throughout the organization. A permanent member of the organization’s Forms Committee, this position oversees the building of new medical forms and/or revisions needed to meet healthcare standards and helps make critical decisions with regard to medical records forms to ensure patient safety. Works closely with other members of the Public Relations & Marketing team to provide graphic design support and production of a wide variety of printed material for marketing and communications purposes including brochures, flyers, posters, and signage. Joins the team in facilitating and representing St. Peter’s at events throughout the community. Reports to the Vice President of Communications and Marketing, but directly supervised by the Supervisor of Marketing.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Experience working in a print shop environment, with working knowledge of all aspects of graphics and print production including desktop publishing, pre-press, operation and troubleshooting of digital printing equipment, and operation of bindery equipment (i.e. cutter, collator, folder, booklet maker). Thorough knowledge and understanding of machine programing, toners, other consumables, and proper paper stocks and sizes needed to complete quality production. Strong desktop publishing skills using Adobe Cloud based software, particularly InDesign. Experience working on a wide variety of tasks simultaneously, managing projects and deadlines, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and providing great customer service. Proficient computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office products. 

EDUCATION: High school graduate, HiSET or GED equivalent preferred, and experience with specialized digital printing and production training. 

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY:  Current and valid Montana State Driver’s License required. 

Aptitudes:  Ability to produce creative, high quality digital printing. Understand the roles of various digital consumable and toner chemicals. Knowledgeable about Fiery digital processing software, color output, and appropriate digital supplies. Ability to perform mathematical calculations to complete reports, prepare statistical information. Ability to communicate with customers on the telephone and over e-mail. Demonstrated ability to be flexible as the work load demands.  Exercise judgement in organizing time and performing tasks frequently. Ability to deal with multiple stressors, deadlines, difficult situations, and customer needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Coordinate daily operations of the in-house print shop, including the production of various printed items, management of vendor relationships and outsourcing, and tracking of budget expenses.  Manage the “Web to Print” ordering system for stationary and other printed material requests of employees throughout the system.  Maintain an adequate shelf stock supply of the most commonly used paper medical forms for immediate availability for staff.  Maintain a master inventory of current forms used throughout the organization, and ensure forms are current in the Clinical Resource Libraries on the SPH intranet.  Design, produce and display a wide variety of marketing, promotional and wayfinding collateral, including:   Promotional brochures, rack cards, flyers, newsletters Wall profiles, internal signs, signage displays and screen savers  Event materials and collateral Coordinate with vendors to plan and procure wayfinding signage. Train staff and volunteers on procedures and equipment operations, and oversee a regular team of volunteers working within the print shop.  Coordinate ongoing equipment service and maintenance needs for color and high-speed Xerox digital printers and/or equivalent machinery, also working with vendor technicians to keep machines in running and dependable order.
