**Grid Modernization Consultant - IT/OT Solution Architect**
POWER’s Digital Utility Business Unit is seeking a Grid Modernization Consultant - IT/OT Solution Architect to support the integration of information technology (IT) and operational technology (OT) systems, driving innovation and efficiency in the utility industry. This position is part of our Advanced Utility Solutions professional services division, focusing on system architecture, software implementation, and technology consulting. The role reports to the Smart Grid Mod Lead and works directly with utility clients to design and deploy scalable, secure, and high-performance technology solutions.
We are looking for customer-focused technical leaders with expertise in IT/OT convergence, utility applications, and enterprise integration to help bridge the gap between business operations and technology.
The selected individual may be able to work remotely or out of one of our many office locations.
**Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:**
The Senior IT/OT Solution Architect will have the following roles and responsibilities:
+ Advises clients on the current state of the system (IT/OT), processes, and needs/wants to go forward.
+ Develop, review, analyze, and/or update high-level and detailed requirements/specifications.
+ Develop, review, analyze, and/or update use cases.
+ Develop, review, analyze, and/or update business processes (current & new).
+ Review and analyze the current state of the system (includes IT/OT) and processes.
+ Develop, review, analyze, and/or update system design.
+ Design and develop future-proof, reliable, scalable, and secure solutions for supporting electric utilities in the ADMS implementation (e.g., Extractor for data sources that feed ADMS, reports from ADMS, etc.).
+ Design and develop tailored made tools based on the specific utility needs.
+ Perform evaluation of the existing software solutions for improvement.
+ Support development of roadmaps and plans that comprise all workstreams, ADMS components, and Utility’s ongoing activities (e.g., EMS, ADMS, OMS, Advanced Apps, DERMS, etc.).
+ Advise client of overall strategy of projects.
+ Conduct workshops, training, and knowledge transfer sessions for utility clients and internal teams.
+ Participate in business development activities as needed.
+ Participate in strategic business unit initiatives and help to improve business unit processes, procedures, templates, and guidelines.
+ Travel up to 20% to client sites for assessments, system implementations, and stakeholder meetings.
**Required Education/Experience:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
+ 10+ years of experience in IT/OT architecture, systems integration, and technology consulting, with a strong focus on utility industry applications.
+ 7+ years of experience working with Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Outage Management Systems (OMS), and Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS) in a consulting or implementation capacity.
+ Strong background in IT/OT system convergence, utility grid operations, and automation technologies such as SCADA, GIS, and EMS.
+ Hands-on experience with integration frameworks and middleware technologies, including:
+ Protocols: DNP3, IEC 61850, ICCP, MQTT, OPC-UA
+ Data Platforms: OSIsoft PI, Hadoop, SQL/NoSQL databases, or similar
+ Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) & APIs: MuleSoft, Apache Kafka, RESTful APIs
+ Expertise in cybersecurity and compliance requirements for critical infrastructure, including NERC CIP, IEC 62443, and Zero Trust security models.
+ Experience in cloud-based solutions for utilities, including hybrid cloud and edge computing architectures.
+ Demonstrated experience leading large-scale IT/OT projects, managing cross-functional teams, and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
+ Proven ability to design future-proof, scalable, and secure solutions to support grid modernization efforts, DER integration, and advanced analytics.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess existing IT/OT architectures and recommend innovative solutions.
+ Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.
+ Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced consulting environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
**Desired Education/Experience:**
+ Master’s Degree: Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Information Systems, or Business Administration with a focus on technology and digital transformation.
+ Relevant Certifications (nice to have):
+ Project Management Professional (PMP)
+ Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
+ TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
+ ISA/IEC 62443 Cybersecurity Certification
+ AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Solution Architect Certification
+ PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Practitioner)

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $140K-$150K per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc.
