Job Description:

Location: Brooklyn, New York

CoWorx has partnered with a leading source for both custom and stock mechanical spring manufacturing in Brooklyn, NY who is looking to add a Grinder Machine Operator to their team. The schedule will be Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm and pay range is between $18.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience. It is a temporary to hire position, with future opportunity to join a union shop permanently! The facility is conveniently located near a terminal and offers off-street parking.

Responsibilities:

– Operate grinding machines on a limited variety of uncomplicated parts to close tolerances according to the standard.
– Proficiently set up and operate all assigned grinding machines.
– Execute tasks based on set up cards or operation sheets, ensuring adherence to specification.
– Select suitable wheels, methods, and tooling based on job requirements and material specifications.
– Exercise judgement in choosing the appropriate tooling to meet varying conditions.
– Dress and change wheels as needed to maintain optimal machine performance and achieve desired finishes.
– Appy judgement in laying out work, setting up machines, and checking the quality of finished products.
– Conduct inspections to ensure work meets specified conditions and quality standards.
– Perform routine teardown of machines, including thorough cleanup.
– Adhere to established maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure equipment longevity and reliability.
– Enter measurements into computer system.

Desired Background/Skills:

– Experience operating a Grinder Machine desired, but not required
– Experience using measurement tools such as verniers and micrometers desired
– Basic computer data entry abilities to record data
– Comfortable with repetitive work
