Grinder Setter Operator AM Shift

Education, Experience & Background

Experience in the operation of RSS and manual centre-less Grinders Experience of working within busy Manufacturing environment. Experience setting Grinding Machines. Aerospace experience would be advantageous.

Competence in the Grinding Setter/Operator’s role will be based on the job holder’s ability to meet the requirements set out in the job description and display the behaviors outlined in the person specification. The performance review tool be used to support this process.

Job Title: Grinding Setter/Operator

Shift:  AM shift pattern - Monday to Thursday 6 am to 2.30 pm - Friday 6 am to 11.30 am  

Location:  Leicester, Meridian Business Park, LE19 1WH 

Package:  Competitive hourly rate, plus 17.5% shift allowance , and excellent pension and other benefits

Essential Functions

The key activities outlined below represent an overview only of the position of Grinding Setter/Operator based on site at the Leicester Plant and should not be seen as a prescriptive list of activities.  A flexible and responsive approach to this role is vital, together with the initiative in identifying and focusing on the needs of the business and its customers.

Specific Responsibilities

Set, Fault Find & Operate machines to produce fasteners to strict tolerances. To use gauges, micrometers, shadow graphs to ensure parts are conforming to the drawing. Self-certification of personal work. To prove out programs so they are in line with the correct timings in accordance with our manufacturing and quality standards. Keep all computer files and manual paperwork accurate and up to date at all times. Responsible for producing SPC charts and records. Ensure housekeeping is maintained to the highest standards. Ensure all quality procedures are adhered to, taking an active part in root cause analysis.

General Company Support

Undertake to train on all machines to ensure 100% flexibility in the workplace, and once fully trained to train others. To actively take part in locally focused, or multi-functional continuous improvement teams. Work as fully flexible team member within the Company to maximise levels of production and quality. Maximise plant and resource utilisation.
